Fact Checking Obama’s Speech To Congress… Pinocchio Would Be Proud…

The Associated Press has been one of Barack Obama’s most loyal supporters, but it seems that is changing. In their analysis of Obama’s speech to Congress last night, AP stopped short of calling him a liar, but they might as well have done just that… AP President Barack Obama knows Americans are unhappy that their taxes [...]

Four Blogs Join the Read My Lipstick Network

You'll love the variety in the latest group of Read My Lipstick Network members! They almost go from one end of the spectrum to the other (in the conservative realm).

http://conservababeblog.wordpress.com/ - Conservababe
http://raisingeden.blogspot.com/ - Raising Eden
http://feedyouradhd.blogspot.com/ - Feed Your ADHD
http://palinforus.blogspot.com/ - Palin for Us

Be sure to stop by their blogs and say hi, welcome them to the Network and introduce yourself. One of the above blogs has some real cute grandkid pictures, one has a photo that will have you wondering if you're in the right place (don't send your kids), another has no photos but great words and one has some cool photos and videos of our favorite lady (gee, who could that be?).

Hope you'll follow as many of the Network blogs as you can. We're now at 144 members, hoping to hit 200 by the end of the month (looking like that might not happen given we're almost there and have 56 to go! We do have a couple in the pipeline, so maybe we'll at least hit 150!).

Thanks for your support. Keep reading, keep blogging and keep fighting for our country.

In case you're following Flake's anti-earmark Resolution

Update from the floor. Note they expect a motion to table:

We are in the midst of general debate on H.R. 1105 – Consolidated Appropriations for Fiscal Year 2009. At approximately 3:15 p.m. we expect to vote on final passage of H.R. 1105. We will then immediately proceed to the Flake (R-AZ) Privileged Resolution, and a likely vote on a Motion to Table will occur. We expect these to be the final votes for the day.

Following our last series of votes, the House is expected to proceed with up to forty minutes of consideration on today’s remaining suspension bill, H.Res. 183 - Expressing condolences to the families, friends, and loved ones of the victims of the crash of Continental Connection Flight 3407. Any requested vote will be postponed until tomorrow.

Blogroll update

Of course, since we have now moved away from using the blogroll, they're ready to go live on March 2nd. SO, anyone who has the blogroll on their site still, may as well leave it. We're going to give everyone the option of using the blogroll OR the logo in the future. If you've switched to the logo already, that's great just leave it there.

One advantage to having the blogroll has always been that it's great advertising for your blogs. People can scroll down the list and see other members, find cool blogs they want to follow. We have it set up so that each time the page is renewed it re-arranges the blog list so everyone has a shot at being displayed at the top.

When they go live on March 2nd AND we've updated the blogroll, I'll send out another message letting you know.

Sorry for all the back and forth! We've been held hostage for months with this and have been more frustrated than most of you probably .

Media Malpractice

I hope everyone with the means to do so will support John Ziegler's efforts to expose the media during the election. All Sarah Palin supporters, and anyone considering a run for office, should see Media Malpractice so they can understand the lengths the media will go to support "their" candidate. We are preparing for the 2010 and 2012 elections. We need to fully understand what we're up against and try to find ways to combat this pervasive liberal campaign tool.

The cost for the DVD is very reasonable, $19.99 plus $4.50 for shipping. If you go to see a movie at the theater you'll spend at least that much these days (if you buy popcorn or soda ;-). Buy an extra copy and give it to someone who's unable to buy their own. Have a viewing at your house, make it a party! Get the word out. We need more John Zieglers!
DVD description: Documentary filmmaker John Ziegler has woven together a
compelling story using the mainstream media's own words to show how their
malpractice achieved new heights in this election and influenced the narrative
of the campaign. Carefully analyzing thousands of hours of media footage from
the past two years, Ziegler paints a stunning portrait of media malpractice that
is undeniable.

Heritage Foundation on The Chicago Tea Party

The nation's outrage over the never ending Bush-Obama Bailout Parade is heating up fast. This week alone we've seen grassroots rallies in Seattle, Denver, Mesa, and Kansas. Then yesterday, CNBC editor Rick Santelli set off a virtual firestorm when his passionate critique of President Barack Obama's mortgage bailout plan inspired traders on the floor of the Chicago Board Options Exchange to stop their pre-trading preparations to voice their support. The video of Santelli's call for a "Chicago Tea Party" to protest the government's constant intervention in the free market has spread like wildfire across all media outlets. What caused Santelli's outburst?

National Review caught up with him:

NRO: When we posted a link to the video, we were swamped with e-mails in support, including a couple from traders at the Board of Trade in Chicago, who have been saying right on. How have the e-mails that you’ve been getting, how have they been running?

Santelli: I’ll be honest with you, I think I’ve gotten somewhere between 850-900, and I think I had three that were negative. ... The issue is, you can’t pick out 8 or 9 percent and give them things that weaken the 90 or 92 percent who are carrying the water. ... They need to quit picking winners and losers, and they have to quit alienating the classes. You have to figure out a way to float all boats, and I think that’s where the administration has gone wrong, and I think that’s the nerve I hit.

Santelli's criticism of the mortgage bailout plan is dead on: The plan treats borrowers who sacrificed to pay their mortgages on time the same as those who used their equity for a boat and stopped paying their loans. This moral hazard sends a clear message to our children that they can avoid the consequences of their actions. But this is only one reason the plan is bad policy.

Others include:

The plan's mortgage cram down provision would only worsen the housing crisis in two ways: First it would increase the risk to lenders and lead to higher interest rates for people trying to buy homes today. Second, the policy would open the door to achieving mortgage reductions for tens of millions of homeowners who can afford their mortgage payments and whose homes are not at risk.

The plan will fail because too few people will qualify and many of those that do will default anyway. The housing bubble was caused in large part by speculators who bought homes planning to flip them for quick profit and other who out-right lied on their loan applications. The mortgage bailout will do nothing to stop these foreclosures. Furthermore, the re-default rates for people that have already participated in mortgage modifications show that as many as 50% of them go on to default again.

The plan risks another $275 billion in taxpayer funds. The Obama Administration claims their plan will only cost $75 billion, but that is only true if it works out perfectly. If the plan fails to stem the inevitable correction in housing prices taxpayers will lose a full $275 billion.

Closing his interview with National Review, Santelli also connected the mortgage bailout to the Obama Administration's stimulus plan:

At the end of the day, it’s simple. A lot of the president’s advisers are saying that there’s a multiplier effect to the government money, and it’s over one. Now if that’s true, then the government should spend non-stop for the rest of our lives, because we’ll get a positive return. And it makes no sense. ... I guess in the end, I believe in the founding fathers, and I believe that in America... the pursuit of happiness and to work hard and keep the fruits of your labor is something I believe in. And I’m not saying we should forget people who need help. But at the end of the day, Americans are strong and they’re charitable. I think what they have a problem with is that it’s force-fed via the government.

Senate Bill 2433 - Research, blog about?

Senate Bill 2433.... It's Already Started
www.opencongress.org/bill/110-s2433/text

According to David Bossie, President of the group 'Citizens United for American Sovereignty based out of Merrifield, Virginia , website: www.citizensunited.org/ the above mentioned Senate Bill (S. 2433) is a piece of legislation in the works that all Americans need to know about... and know now!

This Bill, sponsored by none other than our "President elect" Sen. Barrack Obama, with the backing of Joe Biden on the Foreign Relations Committee, and liberal democrats in Congress, is nothing short of a massive giveaway of American wealth around the world, and a betrayal of the public trust, because, if passed, this bill would give over many aspects of our sovereignty to the United Nations.

Note to all: I'm going to pass along things that are brought to my attention. Some, like this one, I haven't had time to look into. I will as it caused my little antennae to twinge, but thought some of you might want to jump on it faster than I might.

Let's Make Santelli's Tea Party Rant Viral...

Rick Santelli, CNBC, spoke his mind and it's going viral. I'd like to ask all of our Read My Lipstick Network members to consider helping make it spread faster and further by blogging on the subject.

"The government is promoting bad behavior," Santelli said of President Obama's $75 billion initiative to refinance mortgages.
"I have an idea," he said on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange floor.
"How about this, new President and new administration, why don't you put up a Web site to have people vote on the Internet ... to see if we really want to subsidize the losers' mortgages.
"Or would we like to at least buy cars and buy houses in foreclosure and give them to people who might have a chance to actually prosper down the road... reward people who could carry the water instead of drink the water."
Santelli then turned to the traders.
"How many of you people want to pay for your neighbor's mortgage that has an extra bathroom and can't pay their bills?" he asked as boos filled the air.
"President Obama," Santelli continued. "Are you listening?"
"We're thinking of having a Chicago Tea Party in July," Santelli said.
Santelli told the Daily News only a handful of the 700 e-mails he got were negative.
About the tea party: "I was half-serious, but given the response, I think something is going to have to be done in a very serious way."

http://www.nydailynews.com/money/2009/02/19/2009-02-19_the_case_against_the_mortgage_bailout_we.html

Here's the video which you can watch and share (this one is from the Heritage Foundation's YouTube site, I'll post a link underneath just in case this doesn't show).

Also, if you will, go to CNBC and leave a comment. You know there's probably going to be some sort of backlash from the obamedia: https://register.cnbc.com/email/EmailSupport.jsp (I clicked "compliment" as the category).

I think it's refreshing to hear such honesty on the tube!

A Fairy Tale: The Delighted Republican and the Passive Governor

This is a great article from Why Mommy is a Republican, one of our newer Read My Lipstick Network members. I hope you'll read it, then share it on your blogs.

A Fairy Tale: The Delighted Republican and the Passive Governor
Michael Leahy, a WaPo staff writer, offered a piece today that serves as a prime example of what is wrong with American mainstream media today. Leahy's piece is so devoid of proper grammar, it must have either been ghost-written by a seventh grader who can wing a good piece of writing for his age or it was an attempt by Leahy to discredit Sarah Palin as someone whose mettle had been tested in the national election and found lacking, perhaps even sorely. For the sake of argument and for giving Leahy the benefit of the doubt, I will assume it was the latter.

Leahy's caricature has had the opposite effect on me than the one intended, as such ventures into fantasy land by the mainstream press often do for conservatives, because it is just the latest in a long list of examples of the most brutal testing Palin was forced to withstand – that of irresponsible journalism.

New Read My Lipstick Network members and a few tips

I spent yesterday evening going through my inbox, cleaning out all the old stuff in my "to-do" folder and guess what I found? Blogs waiting to be added to our list, blogs pending adding the logo or blogroll (which is no longer used) and some who just had questions.

I sent out my apologies and have now updated our member lists. I thought that rather than try and point to the blogs that I forgot to add and/or the new ones that have been added the past couple of days, that I'd just post the last 20 or so blogs that have been added to the list.

Lisa, www.genuinegopmom.blogspot.com, made an excellent suggestion that makes it easy for you to follow your favorite blogs. Check out www.bloglines.com. We currently have 139 blogs in our membership with a few more pending, so it's kind of hard to read them all! However, try to support your fellow bloggers by following them, sharing some of their posts on your blog and / or writing about their blogs at times (with link and credit of course).

One thing that helps with search engine ranking is the number of incoming links to your blog. If you're writing about others and linking to them, chances are they'll do the same for you. We're all fighting for rank and readers. Networking helps.

Cheesy...

There's someone running down our list of bloggers leaving a comment with links for Sarah Palin fake photos or something along those lines.

Those of you who don't have comments set up to be checked before posting may want to take a look at your blogs, delete the sales pitch. I haven't checked the link, and won't, so can't tell you if it's naughty photoshopped stuff or legit person going about marketing in the wrong way.

We highly recommend setting it up so comments on your blogs are pre-screened. There's a huge effort in the works to come after conservative blogs and they start with provocative comments. Sometimes the tactic is to post something as though it's a conservative saying something nasty or racist so they can then go complain and get your blog shut down.

Two more blogs join the Read My Lipstick Network

Being on Twitter, Facebook and a number of other social networks, I get invited to join a lot of great causes. I can't do them all, barely have time to keep up with the groups and causes I'm involved with already! However, to use an old Southernism, it does my heart good to see all the enthusiasm and activism.

Every day I get introduced to new bloggers out there doing their part to fight for the good ol' USA. On days like today when we watch the signing of a porkulus package that is going to erode more of the foundation our country was built upon, it's tough to find a bit of hope for our future. Adding two new members to our continually growing list of blogs shows that there are many of us continuing the battle! Add 'em to the millions of other conservatives out there and we have an army that can ultimately turn things around. Hope you can believe in. Change that matters.

Welcome to our two newest members:

Here are a few of his blog titles:

Jeannie and I met up on Facebook. I've been reading her blog posts on Facebook and was very happy to find she'd started a stand-alone blog.

Here are a few of her blog titles:

Twitter, Facebook, social network directory

Note to Read My Lipstick Network members:

We're in the process of adding a new feature to help promote our member blogs and websites. As the title above says, it's a directory listing ways to keep up with you on Facebook, Twitter and other social networks.

We are continuing to set up a dedicated page for each of you on the main site (www.readmylipsticknetwork.com). On that page we are including an RSS feed of your blog (if it has one), links to your blog AND we'll be adding other social network contact info as you send it.

The directory will simply be an alphabetical list of our blogs with your Twitter, Facebook, etc. links or usernames.

If you are a member of a Ning site, send that, too!

Send info to readmylipstick at live dot com. (Just in case you're wondering why we never include our email address on here, it's an attempt to stop the spammers from grabbing and adding to their lists. Nothing seems to really stop 'em, but we try ;-)

Sorry, America, I’m the bearer of bad news
February 16th, 2009
By James Delingpole
Towards the end of an American tour last week to promote my new book Welcome to Obamaland: I’ve Seen Your Future and It Doesn’t Work, I began to feel ever so slightly guilty. Partly it was all those people I met still wearing their “Vote Obama” badges like religious talismans, still quite obviously brimming with audacious hope for their country’s bright future under the new Obamessiah. Who was I to come from the other side of the pond and rain on their parade?

Five New Blogs Join the Read My Lipstick Network

Don't ever let anyone tell you that patriotism, love of country, conservative values and a willingness to fight for our country no longer exist! All you have to do is scan through our member blogs and you can see the spirit and spunk that helps us to rise above adversity time after time.

I know things may look bleak right now, but if we keep on fighting, keep on plugging away, we can still turn things around.

I was happy to discover that some of the following are brand new bloggers! I know you'll want to support them. Be sure to add them to your list of favorites, you're blogrolls and when you can, leave a comment so they know you're reading their words. We need an army of bloggers, keep encouraging your friends on the right to blog, tweet, post videos and keep the pressure on our elected officials.

1. http://genuinegopmom.blogspot.com/ - Why Mommy is a Republican
If you're curious about the Tech Summit our new RNC Chair, Michael Steele put together, be sure to check out Why Mommy is a Republican:
GOP Tech Summit
On February 13, the GOP, under the leadership of our new chairman Michael Steele, held a Tech Summit to discuss the technological innovations that the party can implement to more readily engage voters. All were invited to the table to present their ideas.

2. http://realtrueamerican.blogspot.com - Real True American
American's Right to Defend One's Property in Jeopardy
Imagine that you are home minding your own business. You are a simple cattle rancher who wants to spend his days in peace in the Arizona countryside next to the border with Mexico. You are not near any major cities where crime runs rampant.
3. http://weeklypoliticalreview.blogspot.com - Weekly Political Review
Update on Democrats' Needed Vocabulary Lesson
I feel like banging my head against the wall. Democrats must have missed the day in school where they learned the meaning of the words "vetting" and "transparent".
4. http://www.oneangryamericanwoman.blogspot.com - One Angry American Woman

I love my God, my Country and my Family. I am frustrated and angry at what I see going on in America and in our government. I am venting my frustrations here, but I am also hoping we can put our collective heads together and come up with a plan to do something about it. I'm afraid if we dumped a bunch of tea in the bay we would be cited for an environmental spill and be heavily fined or put in jail, so it needs to be something legal, clean, respectful, original and terribly clever.

5. http://1ldsmom.blogspot.com/ - One LDS Mom

Be sure to scroll down the sidebar, she has some great quotes.

"Each of us has a natural right—from God—to defend his person, his liberty, and his property. These are the three basic requirements of life, and the preservation of any one of them is completely dependent upon the preservation of the other two."-Frederic Bastiat (1801-1850) A French economist, statesman, and author.

Wondering what you can do?

Here's someone who took the time to voice her concerns. Wouldn't it be cool if a million or more of us did something similar?

Finally giving up on blogrolling

A note to Read My Lipstick Network members:

Well, we've been more than patient and so have all of our members! You all have been wonderful as we waited for update after update promising that blogrolling would be back up tomorrow, next week, after they did this or that. It's hard to be irritated when the guys who are hosting the blogroll site are doing it at no cost... However, it's rather ridiculous for them to keep promising something they're obviously not going to deliver.

I'd like to ask all of you to take down the blogroll and instead just put up our logo. Please link it to: http://www.readmylipsticknetwork.com/.

If you prefer to leave the blogroll up, that's fine, it still links to the right place. Just know that we can't add any of the blogs who've joined our ranks since early November 2008.

We're going to be doing some new things to help promote your blogs in the near future. We'll keep you posted on here.

As many of our older members know, we provide a full page rss feed for most of our members on our main website. We're continuing to add more as time permits. All of us who maintain the Read My Lipstick Network have full time jobs and / or we're full time Moms (well, no matter what you do, you're a full time mom if you have kiddos at home ;-)

One last thing for all of our newer members - send us your logo and we'll add it to the slide show that rolls across the home page of our main site. Send it to readmylipstick at live dot com.

Thanks for your patience! If anyone is aware of another blogrolling host, please let us know. We much prefer to be able to use something along those lines.

Below is a copy of the letter that Alaska Governor Sarah Palin sent to Texas Republican Women endorsing Governor Rick Perry for re-election in 2010

Dear Texas Republican Women,

After traveling all over this great country of ours, I have seldom found more endearing and inspiring women than Texas Republican women. You are independent, confident, and know how to make an impact in your state– much like the women of Alaska.

Because of your work, Texas is the largest red state in the nation, and it has a strong, conservative governor.

While a bunch of politicians have gone to Washington, hat in hand, seeking a bailout, Governor Perry has said we should stimulate the economy with tax cuts and maintain spending discipline. Rick Perry is true to conservative principles even when others think the party needs to go a different direction. I like that about him: he doesn’t care which way the wind blows, he acts on his beliefs.

That's why I am supporting Governor Rick Perry for re-election. He does what is right regardless of whether it is popular. He walks the walk of a true conservative. And he sticks to his guns – and you know how I feel about guns!

With our current economic crisis, and working families worried about their pensions, jobs, credit card debt and rising home foreclosures, we need strong conservative leadership in trend-setting states like Texas.

Rick Perry is a leader. While the nation lost half a million jobs in the last year, Texas gained 250,000 net new jobs. He improved the job climate in Texas by refusing to raise taxes in the face of the largest budget deficit in Texas history. He had the foresight to join legislators in saving for a rainy day. And he has consistently asked agency heads to cut their budgets even when surpluses were rolling in. My fellow Republicans, that’s consistent leadership. That's Rick Perry.

Click here to see the letter

Governor Perry has also advocated for greater domestic drilling for energy, and a diversified energy mix – including greater development of renewable sources – so America is not held hostage by Middle East ayatollahs and foreign dictators. But in order to overcome extremist opposition to responsible exploration, we need proven leaders in energy states like Texas who will not back down when it up comes to expanding the energy supply.

Let me say one more thing about my friend and your governor: he knows all human life is precious. Rick Perry believes in protecting the most vulnerable in society, and who is more vulnerable than an unborn child? Our value as human beings in the eyes of Our Creator is not diminished by any circumstance.

Not every child is born into ideal circumstances, but every life is sacred. Rick Perry knows this – it is at the core of his being.

Will you join me in supporting a true conservative for governor – Rick Perry? We need Texas’ diverse and strong economy to help pull us out of our economic troubles. That requires a proven CEO as the head of state government. Rick Perry is proven and principled. And we need that in the governor of our nation’s second largest state and most prosperous economy.

Sincerely,
Sarah Palin

Sarah Palin Responds to Contributions Made to Planned Parenthood in Her Name

Governor Sarah Palin today issued the following statement in response to reports that contributions are being made to Planned Parenthood in her name:

“The abortion issue has been with us for decades and has pitted well-meaning people of differing ideologies against each other. Where we can find common ground is in the belief that no one wants a single abortion.

“But when there is a clash of values, I always will come down on the side of life. Making donations to Planned Parenthood in my name might be interesting theater in these politically charged times, but it is not going to change my views or the views of many other Alaskans who believe every life is precious.

“Anti-hunting groups are employing the same tactic of using my name to promote their cause right now. Again, interesting theater.”

You're invited to present the No Stimulus petition to Senate tomorrow

At 2PM tomorrow afternoon, your NoStimulus.com petitions (which at the moment number 395,047) will be officially presented to the United States Senate in an event at the Capitol. Later in the day, the Senate is expected to make the final vote on the Pelosi/Reid/Obama trillion dollar spending bill.

You're invited to join us for this presentation if you are in or near Washington. It will be held in Upper Senate Park at 2PM tomorrow. I'm sorry we couldn't give you more notice, but moving the vote up to tomorrow was a surprise move by Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid to try to jam this disastrous bill through before folks can even read the bill.

If someone tells you this fight is over think about this for a moment. Last Friday, I stood at the Capitol with a band of AFP staff, interns and volunteers as we presented our petitions to Senator Jim DeMint -- our free market leader in the Senate. At that time, we had 69,487 petitions.

Tomorrow, we will present your more than 400,000 petitions and -- if you can help us make a final push by sending the site to your friends in next couple of hours – it can be more than 500,000 petitions to the Senate telling them to vote NO on this outrageous spending bill.

Here's the update on where the battle stands.

Senate and House negotiators are set to agree tonight on a $789 billion bill. Here's what we know about the deal:

This conference report provides the least tax relief of any version yet, even cutting President Obama’s signature middle class tax cut from $500 per individual and $1000 per couple to $400 and $800. That takes money out the pockets of regular Americans to pay for more wasteful spending.

This conference report gives away as "tax cuts" tens-of-billions of dollars to people WHO DO NOT PAY INCOME TAXES.

This conference report, by all accounts, still funds the stealth imposition of health care rationing via so-called “Comparative Evaluation Research,” that would let bureaucrats decides whether people are too old or too sick to receive a treatment.

The price tag is still astonishing. $789 billion might be less than the Senate’s $838 billion, but it’s massively more than the $300 billion this bill originally was proposed at, and still tops a trillion dollars when interest is included. There's still $50 million for the National Endowment for the Arts, $600 million to buy cars for government workers, $88 million for ATV and bike trails and so much more waste. And, go to stimuluswatch.org to see the wish list of earmarks for cities and counties in your area. It will blow your mind.

With a likely Senate vote tomorrow, time is of the essence. These are the key action items that could lead to victory tomorrow:

1. Get at least 3 more people to sign the NoStimulus.com petition. If we have a huge final push we could reach an astonishing half-million signers -- or more -- before our presentation event tomorrow.

2. Make 1 last call to your senator. Many of you have done this and we're so thankful for your standing up. But, we have just 24 hours to make our final push. Call the Senate switchboard at 202-224-3121 or better yet go on-line and call your Senator's local offices. If you need talking points go to NoStimulus.com and we've got plenty.

3. Consider making a special financial contribution to Americans for Prosperity today. Help us continue to get the word out about the dangers of this no-stimulus bill to literally millions more Americans around the country. Your support will provide resources to ramp up our "No Stimulus" advertising and outreach on websites like the Drudge Report, FoxNews.com, Townhall.com and others for the final day of this fight so we can generate thousands upon thousands of phone calls into Senate offices. A gift of $10, $25, $50 - or any amount you could afford - would go a long way toward reaching even more people with our No Stimulus message and mobilizing them to make a difference alongside you and me to STOP the Pelosi/Reid/Obama boondoggle.

You're making a huge difference. Yesterday, “Americans for Prosperity” and “No Stimulus Petition” were the top two searches in the nation on Google, and your efforts to drive literally hundreds of thousands of people to our NoStimulus.com website was a featured story on the Yahoo! front page. Additionally, today you may have seen the number of petition signers ticking upward along the bottom line of the Fox News “ticker.” You have literally flooded Senate offices with your calls and most of Washington is now going to NoStimulus.com site to view the counter to find out how many folks have signed the petition.

I know the pundits are political prognosticators are saying it's over and the Pelosi\Reid\Obama trillion dollar bill is a done deal.

But, don't be discouraged. Instead, keep fighting. One petition signer from Wisconsin, Carla, sent me an email that says exactly why we should keep fighting. She wrote:

"Tim,

For a week I've been so frustrated over this terrible Stimulus bill. Then in the last day I've called both my senators and my congressman. I've signed the NoStimulus.com petition and then forwarded it to my entire email list. For the first time in my life I even called a local talk radio show to tell people why the bill is so bad.

And you something, I feel so much better because I'm doing all I can do."

Carla is right. We can just be frustrated over what these politicians are trying to do to our nation and our economic freedoms. Or, we can do "all we can do" for our nation.

Thanks and if you are in the area please join us tomorrow, 2PM, Upper Senate Park for the presentation of your petitions to the Senate!!

Sincerely,
Tim Phillips
President, Americans for Prosperity

The Intellectual Redneck blog joins the Read My Lipstick Network

First, before I tell you about our newest member, I want to give you an update on our blogroll.

We've been really, really, exceptionally patient with the blogrolling group. However, they're still down and not allowing us to update. SO, on Friday, if they're not back up, we're ditching them. We haven't been able to find an alternative blogroll host, software or code that allows us to do it ourselves so we'll be going to simply using the Read My Lipstick Network logo with a link to our main site.

If any of you would like to go ahead and make the switch, feel free to do so as I seriously doubt blogrolling will magically meet OUR deadline .

We've posted the logo here: http://rmlnblogroll.blogspot.com/ (two sizes are on the sidebar with the link). If you need help, let me know and I'll try to walk you through how to make the logo link to the website.

Now, for the really good news! We have a new member... and have two pending (waiting on them to add the logo link).

The Intellectual Redneck - http://bloggingredneck.blogspot.com/

I got a kick out of his profile: "You know that really weird guy that lives up the street? That's me."

Here's one of his posts, which I'll also be adding to my Barracuda Babes blog... and maybe a few others that I contribute to at times. We have two fights looming, the one the Intellectual Redneck writes about below and the Fairness Doctrine. I hope you'll read this and go ahead and start calling and writing to protest:

Fighting back against "Card Check" (EFCA)
The Save Our Secret Ballot organization is trying to amend state's Constitutions to force secret ballot votes for all public elections. Who would have ever thought it would have come to this in America. The secret ballot vote is as American as apple pie. Many people have given their life defending this country and our right to vote in secret as our conscience dictates. Now, unions and Democrats are trying to take that right away from workers during a unionization campaign. They are doing this with an ironically named bill titled "The Employee Free Choice Act".

Two new blogs join the Read My Lipstick Network

We're adding two new blogs to our stellar star-studded, brilliant group of bloggers today... Yeah, I know, that was maybe a bit over the top, but as bad as it is out there today, we need some encouragement and flattery. It happens to be true flattery, so that makes it even better .

Here are our newest bloggers:

Smart Girl Politics has been asked to help with this effort, and we'd like to respond in a *big* way. And make it fun, too, of course!

Here's how we'd like you to help:

1. Get on Twitter and tweet the heck out of "$20 for NY-20" using the donation link and the hashtag #ny20. Senate Scheduled to Continue Consideration of the 'Economic Stimulus Bill'
Your Action is Needed Now!

Update!

This week, the Senate is scheduled to continue considering the economic stimulus bill, H.R. 1, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

The Senate will convene this afternoon, at 1:00pm and resume consideration of the Stimulus Bill. The debate time will be equally divided, until 5:30pm, and the Senate will then proceed to a Roll Call Vote on the Motion to Invoke Cloture on the Collins/Nelson amendment.

If cloture is invoked, the post-cloture time will run until 12:00pm on Tuesday.

At 12:00pm on Tuesday, the bill will be subject to another 60 vote hurdle by either waiving a budget point of order (if it is raised) or a 60 vote threshold on the amendment. If the amendment is agreed to, the Senate will then proceed to final passage of the Stimulus Bill.

Do not let this bill be passed. There is still time. There are three Republican Senators said to be voting with the Democrats.

Michael Steele's Weekly Republican Address

I hope you'll take a moment to review RNC Chairman Michael Steele's weekly Republican address. Thank you for your continued support.

Click here to download the mp3 audio.
Click here to watch the video.
Transcript:

"This is Michael Steele, Chairman of the Republican National Committee. Democrats have controlled both branches of government for less than a month. And you have to wonder if all that power has gone to their heads.

"For the last two weeks, they've been trying to force a massive spending bill through Congress under the guise of economic relief.

"All of us -- Republicans and Democrats -- agree the government must act to kick-start the American economy. American families are doing their best to balance their own budgets and pay their mortgages.

"The fastest way to help those families is by letting them keep more of the money they earn. Individual empowerment: that's how you stimulate the economy.

"But the Democrats have a different philosophy. Instead of leaving money in the family checkbook, they want to send it to Washington, run it through a slow and inefficient government, and hope that does some good.

"When families keep the money, they spend it, save it, or invest it. And the private sector economy benefits when families and businesses buy consumer goods or invest it for the future. But when Washington spends the money, some of it may flow into the economy, but all too often, much gets wasted.

"Democrats in Congress want a one-trillion dollar spending bill. You've heard about the pork-barrel programs they want to fund... 45 million dollars for ATV trails and removal of fish passage barriers is one that caught my eye. Exactly what is a fish passage barrier and why does it cost 45 million dollars to stimulate the economy with it?

"That's why Republicans in the House voted against uncontrolled spending. This is not a bragging point, but rather a statement that at least Republicans would stand with the American taxpayer.

"But voting 'no' is not enough... and Republicans have offered innovative ideas to help struggling families and small businesses. We've offered plans to spark job creation and investment through lower taxes, to stop the taxation of unemployment benefits, and to help Americans keep their jobs and their homes.

"The comprehensive Republican plan would lower taxes for all working American families. If you're married, the first 16,750 dollars you make this year will be taxed at ten percent. Why don't we cut that rate in half to give instant buying power to every working American family?

"Good ideas... lots of them... all left out of this plan by the Democrats in Congress.

"Republicans stand ready to work with reasonable Democrats to do what is right for America.
"But it will take more than bipartisan words from the President. It will require fair-minded action from Democrats in Congress.

"Thanks for listening."

UPDATES ON Stimulus Everyone needs to know

From W.A.M. - Laudits to Sen. Thune (GOP/SD) for attempting to stop the HR1 Catastrophe. Voted down 36 to 61 he offered an amendment that the entire bill be scrapped and its funds be redirected to middle class tax rebates in an equal amount. Imagine how much more that would do to really stimulate the economy!

Most credit due to Senator Vitter (GOP/LA) for his also defeated amendment (45 to 51) to prevent $$ 2.2 BILLION DOLLARS of HR1 from funding A.C.O.R.N. - in the guise of "neighborhood stabilization programs!" This measure doesn't help the economy. It threatens US further as A.C.O.R.N. (now under indictment in numerous states for the vote fraud that swept Obama into office) contributed to the banking and housing collapse through its aggressive demands of unfit housing loans.) And that was only the beginning of their Master Plan!

BIGGEST DISGRACE: GOP Senate support is absolutely necessary for this package of corruption and subterfuge to pass.

Currently these 3 GOP Senators are indicating a potential to likely YES Vote on HR1. They are:

Republican Senators COLLINS AND SNOWE of MAINE and Republican Senator SPECTRE of Pennyslvania.

If they do so, we will all be subjected to dangerous laws hidden in this Socialist Stimulus for Obama backers! (See contents of W.A.M. message to Senators below for details.)

Your W.A.M. ACTION is URGENT this weekend.

If you have not yet contacted Congress with your feedback about HR1, please do so now! Moveon and Obama's other octopus arms are running a massive DIRECT CONTACT campaign to the SENATE in support of this TROJAN HORSE. Make your Voice Heard!

W.A.M. has prepared FAX letters & quick Voice Mails in your exclusive downloads- which address the real issues of worst dangers of HR1. Don't be fooled by Mass Media - all the billions in pork is the least of our worries - other than buying up Congressional votes what the pork really does is act as a cover for HR1 real agenda!

If you can, go to your W.A.M. downloads now to send a quick FAX and/or CALL the 3 Critical Senators above and your own state's. Along with quick send materials, you will find direct contact information for directly reaching Congress.

If you don't have time to PHONE AND FAX, below is a prepared EMAIL MESSAGE and the links to send it NOW to each of these 3 pivotal politicians:

Your follow-through on these quick email sends is a short cut for expressing your resistance as a voter and the WORST REASONS why! (Of course, you can also adapt this message to suit.)

If you are not yet signed in with W.A.M. to access more complete ACTION information and Materials, click here: GET INVOLVED

Help get this petition against the stimulus over 100,000 signatures by Monday!

The fight to stop this trillion dollar stimulus scheme is not over!

Two big events occurred yesterday afternoon in the Pelosi-Reid-Obama big-governmen/big-spending bill battle.

First, at 4:00 P.M. our band of Americans for Prosperity staffers, interns and volunteers delivered your 69,487 petitions to the Senate. There to thank you were four of the true free market champions in the Senate – Sen. Jim DeMint (SC -- our leader), Sen. Jeff Sessions (AL), Sen. David Vitter (LA), Sen. James Inhofe (OK) and Sen. Mike Enzi (WY).

Our event led the 6:00 P.M. national FOX News show! Cameras were also therefrom CNN and CBS Evening News. To theright is an image from FOX News, your petitions looked great and the senators and media were stunned. Also, make sure to check out picture of the event on the AFP Flickr page and the full press conference is up on the AFP YouTube page.

All four senators said their phones are ringing off the hooks at the capitol with callers running heavily against the spending bill and your petitions were an even more clear indication of our momentum.

If you wonder whether or not you're making a difference, just check this quote out from Roll Call (Capitol Hill's insider newspaper) “Everyone is really unhappy on the messaging,” one senior Democratic aide said. “Members are apparently getting beaten up badly on the package at home."

Then, last night during a procedural move the Senate announced that the key vote on the Pelosi-Reid-Obama bill will be this Monday at 5:30 P.M. Simply put, we need 40 Senators voting NO at that point to stop the bill (normally would be 41 but due to the recount the Minnesota seat is vacant so it in effect counts as NO).

This means we have two more days to intensify the pressure on the Senate. Phil Kerpen from our AFP staff personally delivered just over 2,400 petitions to Senator Specter (PA) one of the key undecided Republicans and he told me the office staff was harried and tired from all the "attention" they're getting.

You've probably heard big government supporters talk about how the Pelosi-Reid-Obama trillion dollar giveaway is genuine "stimulus" and not just another wasteful, pork-filled, pet program spending outrage. Well, even President Obama had a moment of candor last evening when describing this bill to the House Democrat caucus.

Here's what the President said, "[T]here's the argument, well, this is full of pet projects. When was the last time that we saw a bill of this magnitude move out with no earmarks in it? Not one," he said to applause. "So then you get the argument, well, this is not a stimulus bill--this is a spending bill. What do you think stimulus is?"

You have to hand it to President Obama -- talk about audacity. Of course, he was not talking to the American people but instead to a couple of hundred hardened big government politicians at a private retreat. I bet his message to the broad public will be a lot different!!

Thank you for signing the NoStimulus.com petition to Congress. Thank you for taking action to protect our freedoms and our nation. But, now is the time to do more.

Requests before the Monday vote:

By Monday's vote, our goal is 100,000 petition signatures at NoStimulus.com so we must add another 20,000 signatures.

Nearly 14,000 of you have forwarded the NoStimulus.com site to your friends and family and it's made a huge difference. But, many of you have yet made this important step. It’s you guys that are going to make this a success. Please take a moment to forward this email or go to NoStimulus.com and send the site to your friends. And, please CC me when you do it -- it's a great encouragement to our team when we get these emails from you to your friends!

As we monitor the site we find that literally thousands of people are going on the site to view the petition counter -- the media, congressional offices, pollsters and political operatives -- it's the surest, quickest way to see if we're maintaining momentum and energy on our side.

Also, first thing Monday morning I urge you to call your Senate office one more time -- even if you've called already. The switchboard number is 202-224-3121. Or, go on line and get the number for your senator's local office in your home state. Heck -- DO BOTH. Tell them about the Obama quote or go to NoStimulus.com for new talking points. These calls matter so much.

Please forgive me for this long email update but I have to share one last thing with you. It's an email from Sherri in Cary, NC that sums up the energy so many of you are displaying while making a great point at the end. Take a look:

Tim, Thanks for all your work and communication. I sent emails to all 100 Senators yesterday asking them to vote against this porkulus bill - or as Obama called it last night - this "Spending Bill". I called my 2 senators offices and have told all friends I can about signing your petition. I felt less frustrated after doing all this - at least I'm doing what I can to voice my opinion about this disastrous debt-ridden liberal Christmas list.

SherriCary NC

Let's keep fighting!

Sincerely,
Tim Phillips President,
Americans for Prosperity

P.S. Watch Harry Reid describing the "compromise" and admitting the bill is approaches $1 trillion and saying they didn't get everything they wanted - "No one lost anything. Everything in here is new money."

Another stimulus message

I'm going to be passing along some of the messages I receive re: the scamulus, porkulus, stimulus. Feel free to keep them going. We need to do everything we can to show our displeasure about how this thing is going down. We especially need to make sure Snowe, Collins and Specter hear us loud and clear. I'm planning on sending money to help their Republican opposition and I may even consider flying out there and volunteering if someone wants to take them on.

A message from Pumpkin13 to all members of THE RESISTANCE on Team Sarah!

It appears the Senate just went into recess and I believe they will not return until Monday at 1:00. At that time there will be more debate on the Stimulus Bill and at 5:30 they should hold a "Procedural Vote on the Stimulus Bill" to determine if they will continue with the bill.

If they get that far they will actually vote on the Bill (I am hearing Tuesday).

This means there is time to call your state Senators, on Monday.

Put the heat on them.

Also, contact the three Republic Senators below who have agreed to vote "yes" on the bill.

I know it is a shot in the dark but just maybe they can be swayed back to a "no"vote:

Susan Collins (R-ME) phone# 202-224-2523 and fax# 202-224-2693
Olympia Snow (R-ME) phone# 202-224-2344 and fax# 202-224-1946
Arlen Specter (R-PA) phone# 202-224-4254 and fax# 202-228-1229

I have heard that Specter is not sure how he will vote so we all really need to call or fax him.

E-mail is good but unless you reside in their state they will likely not receive your e-mail...you may not even be allowed to submit an e-mail.

Keep Trying Friends!

Stimulus Package Includes Religious Discrimination

Say what? I thought the same thing. But according to The Christian Post, schools that accept federal funding for the renovation of their facilities are prohibited from allowing religious activities to be conducted in those facilities. That means kicking out Christian clubs, groups, even churches who have no where to meet except in public university buildings that aren't used on Sunday mornings.

We'r have a chance to stop the scamulus, porkulus...

Senator Jim DeMint joined Americans for Prosperity (AFP) last night to discuss the porkulus bill. Over 10,000 listened and some were able to ask questions. I was one of those who listened as DeMint shared the latest on the scam they're trying to sell as a necessary thing to save our economy.

On the way home today I was listening to a talk show host who said there is an article in USA Today (buried) where a reporter asked Mr. Obama what the jobless rate will be in 2 years if the stimulus passes. He says he'll check with his economists... then comes back and says in 2 years the jobless rate is projected to be 7.2%. It's 7 percent now.

Does that make any sense to you? I'm going to do a search and see if I can find the article he referred to. I believe it was the Michael Medved show (if he's the one that does pop culture and politics, like the show, just don't get to listen to it often enough to be sure I'm connecting right name ;-).

After the call with AFP I participated in a Move Over MoveOn call with Top Conservatives on Twitter. That group is really making some inroads, especially on the stimulus. I'd highly recommend getting involved (www.topconservativesontwitter.com, http://moveovermoveon.posterous.com).

There is a LOT of action happening on the anti-stimulus side, but there is also a lot of action happening in support of Obama's plan. He's reaching out to millions and millions via email and the obamazombies are doing what they're told.

Here's the latest from Americans for Prosperity. Please go sign their petition and then get all your friends to do the same. They have over 42,000 signers, but that is a drop in the bucket. We need millions to sign the petition.

Dear [insert your name]

Last night, you could feel the energy on our live telephone town hall as 10,819 American citizens joined Americans for Prosperity and Senator Jim DeMint -- the leader of the effort to defeat this big government boondoggle.

During the call one wonderful lady who asked Senator DeMint a question, Lee from Kentucky, told us that she had just gotten her power and phone service back on from the snowstorms that have buried her state and one of her first acts was to call her two senators telling them to vote NO! That's the kind of commitment we are seeing all over the country.

During the call, just over 1,500 folks logged on to NoStimulus.com and signed AFP’s petition to Congress - pushing the total number over 42,000. It's growing by the minutes as people hear about the site and join our cause. Go to NoStimulus.com, and then 10 minutes later hit the refresh button -- a hundred or more new activists will have joined you in signing up.

Today, thousands of activists from last night's call are jamming the phone lines at the U.S. Capitol telling their senators to vote NO. Senators are feeling the heat in part because of your good work.

Bloggers across the nation are pounding away with ever growing energy against this Pelosi-Reid-Obama bailout and big government bill. Just go to Google.com and search "Americans for Prosperity." Then hit the blog tab and you will see all the great Americans who were on last night's Americans for Prosperity call with Senator DeMint and then blogged about it on their sites.

On the media front, I'm still cranking through new talk radio shows across the country -- just finished one in Madison, Wisconsin.

The pressure is building and I need your help to make sure that the Senators continue to feel the heat.

I'm asking you to do at least two things:

First, Call the switchboard at the U.S. Senate to tell your Senators to vote NO on the Pelosi-Reid-Obama spending boondoggle. The number is 202-224-3121. Just ask the operator to put you through to your senator. Or, you can call the local district office for your senator.

Second, recruit at least three of your friends or family to go to www.NoStimulus.com and sign the petition by forwarding this email on to them and CCing me or going to our tell-a-friend page. Many people in Washington, D.C. are watching this site to see if the momentum against the Pelosi-Reid-Obama boondoggle is growing. In fact, one of Senator Kennedy's aides told one of our senior staffers last night that they "know all about our petition" and they've been watching the numbers steadily climb as American citizens like you signed the petition telling Congress not to pass this outrageous bill. The NoStimulus.com site is a way for the media and elected leaders to measure the level of opposition to this bill and that's one key reason it is so important.

At this point, we do not know when the Senate vote will occur. Senator DeMint's best guess is tomorrow or Saturday but it could slip into next week. The other side controls the timing of the vote so we've just got to keep the pressure building.

Thank you for all you're doing. We've sure come a long way in the last three weeks. Now, let's finish the job.

Sincerely,
Tim Phillips
President,
Americans for Prosperity
P.S. We can win this fight. Check out this article on NRO by our National Director of Policy Phil Kerpen outlining why victory over this trillion dollar Pelosi-Reid-Obama stimulus boondoggle is in reach.

www.politicaljules.com - Political Jules for Love, Life & the Pursuit of Politics
There are some witty, witty people in our Network of bloggers! Cool title. In the current post she did something which I think could start a movement... I hope it will. She took a comment about Sarah Palin, inserted Obama's name and turned it back on the commenter. GREAT idea. I think we should start doing that not just when they trash Sarah, but whenever we can turn it around. We'll probably have to clean up their language a bit, most of the posts from libs seem to be peppered with words you wouldn't use in front of most moms.

Here's a link to the article so you can see how she turned the tables:
An Obama Overview
I was having my daily, Glen Beck defined, “arguments with idiots” on a NYT article comment post thread. The continued hate that comes from the left toward Governor Sarah Palin has not waivered one bit since obama was elected. One such comment post was so over the top, that I could almost word for word, replace Sarah’s name with obama’s name, and it fit him to a tee. I had to change some of the issues points, but it turned out to be a very good overview of what Obama is, and what he stands for. So without further a due, here is what I came up with...

http://sarahpalin-report.blogspot.com/ - Sarah Palin Report
I really liked the streamlined look of this blog, nice, simple and easy to read. Sarah Palin fans are going to want to add this blog to their blog rolls and lists of favorites (I'm adding it to my lists to follow). Good stuff. I also like how she makes sure to link to supporting articles, etc. when she cites info. Here are a few sample headlines:

Cheney not worried about GOP
Dick Cheney knows it's no cake walk for Republicans but sees many issues tilting in their favor next time around. As for Governor Palin...
Barracuda on Wildlife ad
Governor Palin responds to the Defenders of Wildlife Campaign ad:“It is reprehensible and hypocritical that the Defenders of Wildlife would use Alaska and my administration as a fundraising tool to deceive Americans into parting with their hard-earned money...
Ashley Judd vs. Barracuda
Ashley Judd's agenda on this Wildlife Action Fund ad is obvious: Stop Sarah Palin. Judd certainly didn't include how this practice...
