Misguided Republicans are sponsoring a bill that will hurt YOUR freedoms. I actually LIKE some of the people who are sponsoring this mess, so I'm kind of with Eric Erickson / RedState (below). Here's a link for a Google petition you can sign to help send a message to Congress. Do some research. Take a look at this mess. Drudge has a link to a New York Times story that gives a good wrap up. Anyway, here's the petition link: https://www.google.com/landing/takeaction/. If you don't like Google, I would bet there are a zillion different ones floating around.

Today is an unusual day at RedState.
Many websites around the nation and the world are going dark today in solidarity against SOPA, the Stopping Online Piracy Act (SOPA) pending in Congress. Many of this site’s good friends, like Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee and Marco Rubio of Florida (a co-sponsor of the Protect IP Act in the Senate, which is the Senate version of SOPA) are supporters of this horrible legislation that would give Eric Holder and future attorneys general the right to shut down websites with minimal, if any, due process.
While it pains us to do so, we are committed to working against the re-election of each Republican co-sponsor of SOPA and Protect IP, including Rep. Blackburn and Sen. Rubio. Both pieces of legislation overreach their goals and will harm the internet.
We hope the Republican co-sponsors of these pieces of legislation will remove their names and we hope the legislation will die. In solidarity with those sites shutting down today to show you the potential impact of this legislation, RedState will suspend posting new content for much of today.
On the front page of RedState you’ll find a tool you can use to contact your member of Congress and urge they oppose both SOPA and Protect IP.

Working together to build a better Internet force
In the past few weeks I've seen a proliferation of networks, movement and groups forming on the Internet. Grassfire, WAM08, Modern Conservatives, Liberty Coalition of America, my very own Read My Lipstick Network and our new United Conservatives of America just to name a very few of the ones I've heard about. Team Sarah has also been a huge force in this election giving us all a place to gather and talk, encourage and get our marching orders!
Somehow we have to find a way to work as a cohesive force rather than a thousand splintered groups. We need an umbrella organization that joins all the groups together so we CAN have an impact. Divided we fall, united we WIN.
I've been emailing back and forth with a number of groups because I came up with the idea of United Conservatives of America (UCOA) to act as the umbrella organization to list all the networks, movements and resistance. However, it turns out everyone wants their group to be top of the so-called heap, so UCOA would just be another splinter. [Note: the networks I mentioned in the first paragraph are not in that category, we're all working together nicely and they're great folks! I encourage you to get involved / join all of them.]
The groups / sites / movements are willing to list mine if I'll list theirs (which of course I will). I've replied that I'll be happy to do so and that I don't really care who's "in charge" of the main site, it can be their site, but we need to have some central way of communicating and walking together albeit in loose lock-step. Problem is, there are so many that want to be the main site that no one is going to end up being a main clearing station for groups. Everyone is building their own little kingdom. Can't say I blame them, we're all fired up and want to DO something right now!
We're independent. That's one of the things that makes conservatives so special. We aren't drones and we're willing to roll up our sleeves and work... independently .
I believe our independence works against us to some degree. We get bogged down with an issue that in the scheme of things doesn't mean much. We lose the big picture while fighting over the little things. Most of us are intelligent, strong, individuals which makes it even harder to play together for any length of time.
We have to find a way to check our egos and learn to work together without giving up our own values.
The election was a prime example of how our egos and independence hurt our common cause. Remember when some of "OUR" guys started attacking Sarah Palin? Questioning McCain's choice? Did they really think that was going to get John McCain elected? Ego. They wanted to be right, to sell a column, or get on a talk show (or be able to claim they were the 'first' to discover the problem). They weren't looking at the big picture. Much as I decry the mainstream media and the libs, they put their little differences aside for the most part and painted a unified picture. We were divided and we lost. (Yes, I know that's not the only reason ;-)
Somehow if we are going to survive as conservatives, if we are going to reverse this trend, we have to find a common goal that unites us. We have to be willing to work toward a larger goal together. We need what the libs say they have (and don't), a 'big tent" approach.
Some of you are working on manifestos, common causes, banding together and getting others to join your groups. Some have started networks, petitions, plans of action, movements, etc.
Let's figure out a way to pull all of everyone's efforts together. I don't care who gets the credit and whose organization is the biggest, I want to take back our country and make it the strong, principled, free country it should be and has been. Our values and principles are being eroded as I type. Our inability to play together is going to be our downfall.

W.A.M. SOS: It's Time to Turn the Tide
There is a dangerous trend happening which, together, we can prevent.
Blocked or impeded Internet activity shows it is time for DIRECT VOTER OUTREACH to our own neighbors, friends and family. That's what the obamanation does-to win this election, shouldn't we do as well?
We all know of Obama's attempts to remove all criticism from the public airwaves through pressure on the FCC and threats of litigation. As part of this pattern, other related violations of freedom of speech have followed:
- On Monday a W.A.M. volunteer reported that both Yahoo and Google refused to produce her prepaid pro-Palin ad on no other basis than "undesirable product"
- the contents of which were in good taste and not inflammatory.
-Today FOX news reported that MSNBC is disallowing any anti-democratic comments from the network's online activity.
On a seemingly unrelated front, informed voters are aware of Obama's repeated voting pattern. in IL Senate, to de-legitimize the rights of infants who survive abortion to survive.
At the same time, his campaign has targeted young women voters with scare tactics about a bogus Sara Palin 'plan' to reverse Roe vs. Wade. Political insiders recognize this invented issue is a 'political football' used to divert attention from Obama's vague, vacillating position on critical national issues.
This morning's news carries 2 eye-opening events, which nobama activists can capitalize on to start turning the tide of recent pro-Obama polls.
-Good news from California is a NOW leader's very public endorsement of Palin, describing her as "what a (true )feminist looks like". The NOW organization has insisted that this long-time Democrat activist's statement be niched as a mere "personal statement"
- with viral distribution, this event can - with your participation - turn the tide on Obama's scare tactics to turn off Independents from a McCain/Palin vote.
-Bad news from Australia helps to connect the dots, demonstrating that far left attempts to take-over the globe are not limited to North America. This week the Aussie Parliament will vote on a bill to approve all abortions - including final term pregnancies- on demand. Notice how this corresponds to Obama's own baby-killing stand. This is not pro-choice- it is anti-life!
Wake Up America Movement has a strategy to use all this news to turn the public tide to nobama and pro-Palin in one fell swoop.
