Cusak, Hate, Satanic Death wishes

John Cusack has gone of the deep end... the same deep end that many other libs have jumped into with open arms. He's called for a 'Satanic death cult center' at Fox News HQ, Dick Armey, Newt Gingrich, GOP, etc. on Twitter over the weekend.

Every time I see a mean-natured twisted comment or rant, get attacked, read the stuff that comes out of so many liberal / progressive type's mouths these days I wonder what happened to the peace and love the left has claimed as their mantle from the 60's forward.

I got into it slightly over the weekend with a local radio personality who tweeted some maybe-not-quite-so-Cusack tweets about Glenn Beck, but hateful none the less. One of his fellow DJ's joined the conversation, making it two from Dave radio. I retweeted a tweet from someone who'd seen the same comments I saw which attracted the DJ's attention, rightfully so since the tweet had his name in it ;-)

I don't do hate. I can debate issues with people who don't attack individuals, who don't wish for satanic death cult centers, who don't spit venom. Once I see that kind of anger I'm done, no point. I blocked the radio DJs, took their radio station off my presets in the car... and now I will never be able to watch a movie with John Cusack in it again. That's a sacrifice of sorts as I have enjoyed some of his movies, usually put them on the "going to see list" when he's in one.

It used to be you could watch movies and not know a darn thing about the people in them aside from fluff. It was great to get lost in a movie and sorta believe the actor could be the person they portrayed. Once Hollywood and music-types started opening their mouth and spewing hate it became impossible for me to transcend reality and get into some of their movies.

It's impossible to see a hate-a-conservative type playing someone in the military or a political type... or even in some cases a business person... and feel they're credible, ignore their well-voiced comments in opposition to the type character they're playing.

Since some of you are going to fuss at me and say that Cusack has been a long-time Obama supporter, left winger type, I'll have to admit that I don't hear most of the stuff they have to say until it hits the current Cusack-level. When it reaches my non-Hollywood following attention level, it's gotta be pretty rabid.

I watched a good portion of Glenn Beck's Kennedy Center thing on Friday night. It was nothing but good stuff, positive talk. On the sidebar there was a running commentary by viewers. A whole bunch of lefties and haters were making very nasty, snide, ugly comments about Beck. Personal stuff, attacks on his motivation, his personality, etc. Nothing of substance. Ditto the comments by the radio DJs. Just hateful stuff, personal attacks. It was interesting, as always, to see the same talking points being typed by the haters.

At least Cusak was original in his hate-mongering.

What's so weird is these same people who are slapping at conservatives for being racist, evil, horrible people are doing so in such a stinkin', evil, horrible, nasty way. Kettle black scenario, except they're talking about a kettle that's pretty shiny for the most part (yes, there are some uglies on the right side, too). But the hypocrisy of saying evil things and thinking it's OK is mind boggling. If I said the exact same things some of them are saying about a progressive, a liberal, a Democrat, or one of their icons, I'd be forever under attack and vilified. They say that stuff and the lib left pats 'em on the back. Skewed world.

So, OK, no more Cusak movies. Darn, darn, darn. He's cute and funny... oh wait, no, he's really not funny, I just saw who he really is via his Twitter messages.

I'm in mini-mourning. Because of a couple of stupid radio DJs I gave up my Dave radio station this weekend and now I'm choosing to give up John Cusak movies. Pretty soon the only people who'll going to movies will be progressives. At least I have a number of good rock radio station alternatives!

I've been reading all the articles and comments as to why various people think it's becoming so vicious. I think it's probably a combination of most of the factors I read. I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts if you'd like to share.

I think social media is a part of it. We're anonymous and can vent our deepest, darkest thoughts. It's immediate so people can have a few drinks and then shoot off their mouth, no second tries.

It's more than just social media though, it's more than the main-stream media, more than the availability of news, more than the war... Did 9-11 trigger something or release something in us that was already there? Was it a trigger or just part of a series of events that brought us to this clear divide?

If we survived the next few years and history isn't re-written as they're trying to re-write it now, it will be interesting for our kids to look back at all the triggers. Those in the future will have much more information available to them about this time in history. We'll be able to chronicle thoughts that went out via blogs, facebook, twitter, etc.

Actor John Cusack went on a caustic Twitter rampage Sunday evening, attacking former House Majority Leader Dick Armey, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and Fox News.

“I AM FOR A SATANIC DEATH CULT CENTER AT FOX NEWS HQ AND OUTSIDE THE OFFICES ORDICK ARMEYAND NEWT GINGRICH-and all the GOP WELFARE FREAKS,” Cusack tweeted.

Magnify Your Efforts

You all know that Obama has filled his Cabinet with people with ethical challenges. They fly through without any major challenges. It seems that we are fighting against the wind as we write, call, fax our opposition to the many actions by Obama, Pelosi, Reid and friends.

I have a suggestion. Rather than JUST sending petitions to Washington D.C. and contacting our elected representatives, let's also contact every media outlet we can imagine. Not just this time, but every time you have a concern.

If you call your Senator, call the local news stations, too. If you write your Congressman, write every media outlet you can find (radio, television, newspaper, etc.). Duplicate everything you do ten-fold.

They're saying the opposition isn't there. They're ignoring our pleas for ethical representation. They're treating us like pesky flies that can be swatted away. Let's show them.

Magnify everything you do.

Get the addresses for every media outlet you can find and make sure you copy them when you send your letters. Get the email addresses of every national and local news outlet you can dig up and copy them on every email you send in protest.

Let's overwhelm them. Let's make it impossible for them to ignore us or swat us away.

Media Malpractice

I hope everyone with the means to do so will support John Ziegler's efforts to expose the media during the election. All Sarah Palin supporters, and anyone considering a run for office, should see Media Malpractice so they can understand the lengths the media will go to support "their" candidate. We are preparing for the 2010 and 2012 elections. We need to fully understand what we're up against and try to find ways to combat this pervasive liberal campaign tool.

People are calling, and eMailing. They're being shut out. Phones are busy, they don't answer, mailboxes are full, aides dismiss their concerns, eMails bounce or an auto-generated reply comes. The media needs to be alerted to this. This is stonewalling.

Another reason or two to boycott the media... and one great story

The following came in my daily "cyber alert" from the Media Research Center. I'd normally post just the first paragraph and a link, but they sent the whole thing and I couldn't easily find it on their site (ha, probably because it's on Newsbusters, duh.. just noticed a comment when scanning, no time to find it now though so will just post). Below the MRC post I've included a link to the interview and video Matthews and Alter are slamming.

Newsweek's Jonathan Alter Slams Sarah Palin as 'So Lame'

On Thursday night's Hardball, Chris Matthews played several clips from documentarian John Zeigler's interview with Sarah Palin, in which the former GOP VP candidate criticized Katie Couric and the press as a whole for bias against her, but his guest, Newsweek columnist Jonathan Alter, dismissed Palin's charges as "so lame," and called her "a Nixonian Nanook of the North." Alter noted "the subtext of this is that somehow the Democratic candidates are treated better by the press," a notion he dismissed: "Ask Bill Clinton the way he was treated, you know, by the press. I mean it's just not true."

The following exchanges were aired on the January 8 edition of Hardball:

First up, after Matthews aired a clip of Palin criticizing the McCain campaign for forcing her to conduct continuing interviews with Couric, Alter called the Alaskan governor: "So lame."

CHRIS MATTHEWS: There ought to be a law against politicians blaming their handlers. What do you think Jonathan?
JONATHAN ALTER, NEWSWEEK: Yeah this was just so lame, Chris. I mean why didn't it go well the first day? It wasn't because Katie Couric was asking awful questions. Her questions were very straight, no spin on the ball. The problem was Sarah Palin couldn't answer the questions in a way that showed the knowledge that is required to be Vice President and quite possibly President. So if she had decided not to go back for the rest of the interview she would have been conceding that she simply wasn't qualified to be Vice President if she couldn't answer Katie's questions.

Then after a clip of Palin wondering if Caroline Kennedy would get better coverage in her quest for the New York Senate seat because of a "class issue," Alter insulted Palin as acting like a "Nixonian Nanook of the North."

ALTER: Chris you wrote the book on Kennedy and Nixon. You know this is Sarah Palin acting kind of like a Nixonian Nanook of the North. She's trying to play that class argument against the Kennedys. That goes back a long way. It's had some success in American politics. But you know this, at this point it's kind of comparing apples and oranges. She was on the threshold of becoming Vice President and possibly President. Caroline Kennedy hasn't even been, you know, chosen yet for the U.S. Senate, as one of 100. So you know the standards in covering them aren't quite comparable. Not to mention the fact that Caroline's had a pretty tough press so far. She has hardly been handled by kid gloves in the last couple weeks.
MATTHEWS: You're right.

Finally right before the close of the show, Alter denied Palin's claim of liberal bias that she would've received positive coverage if she was on the Democratic ticket:

MATTHEWS: Jon, Jon would she have gotten better treatment had she been on the "D" ticket instead of the "R" ticket?
ALTER: Well first of all, first of all Chris she never would've been on the Democratic ticket. I mean John McCain said that the first requirement for his pick was that, that person be qualified to step in at a moment's notice and deal with terrorism and all the big international issues. So he violated his own standards. That was also Barack Obama's standard for who he would put on the ticket and he chose somebody with, with the requisite experience. But if she had been -- the, the subtext of this is that somehow the Democratic candidates are treated better by the press. Ask Bill Clinton the way he was treated, you know, by the press. I mean it's just not true.
MATTHEWS: Okay, ask Jimmy Carter.
ALTER: Jimmy Carter! Yeah.
MATTHEWS: Anyway. Ask Jimmy Carter, he got a terrible press.

If someone told me five months ago that in early January I would pay over $1,400 for an incredibly inconvenient plane ticket and $120 for a 3 a.m. cab fare to get from sunny Los Angeles to Wasilla, Alaska, I would have told them there was a better chance the Dow Jones would be below 9,000 and a gallon of gas less than two dollars.

Your efforts succeed; CNN does it again...

A few days ago Palin supporters across the blogosphere were up in arms about CNN's inclusion of Sarah in their notorious list of bad guys for 2008. They had a slide show with politicians who fell from grace because of their crimes and misdemeanors in which they included Sarah Palin.

Well, due to YOUR emails and complaints they've quietly taken Sarah out of the mix. Yep, she's no longer in the story. No explanation, no apology, no rationale for including her or for removing her from the list.

I've been reading the news from China thanks to one of our blogging members, Cristy Li. One of the news stories I read exposed a controversy with a photo at a promoted government event. A photo was posted of attendees with a gentleman in the front row clearly snoozing. When attention was called to the photo, it magically appeared the following day with the guy wide awake (they doctored the eyes). Another story showed a painted documentary picture of a historical event that had been changed due to political whims. Over the years as the officials in the picture fell out of favor they were painted out of the picture. Later when in favor, they were brought back. People who weren't there were painted into the photo.

They changed history.

CNN attempted to re-write history by including Sarah in the criminal mix, then quietly changed history again by taking her out without acknowledging they made a HUGE error in judgement. I hope you'll all consider blogging about this issue and continue to hold CNN's feet to the proverbial fire.

CNN has been called on the carpet for many controversial choices they've made to the detriment of our military and / or conservatives. They should be called on the carpet about this issue, too.

There is a Mainstream Media Blackout effort that I now believe should consider focusing on ONE media outlet at a time. We had discussed doing a 3-hour Friday blackout of ALL media each week, which seemed like an easy task. However, I don't think the idea is catching on. I know many of you are already boycotting CNN. What would you think about putting a button on your blogs that linked to a new blog I just grabbed, "CNN Boycott"? Promoting a CNN boycott?

We must have fairness in the media. We can not rely on radio (the Dem's are coming after talk radio soon with the so-called "Fairness Doctrine"), we can not rely on Fox News. We need fairness across the board.

They just keep going after Sarah...

I can't imagine any other political figure getting this kind of scrutiny, especially such negative scrutiny. Sure, if they're caught doing something illegal I could see it. It does show the power that Sarah Palin has to this day. It's growing despite the best efforts of the lefties.

I feel that I'm a strong person, but I'm not so sure that I could handle the attacks that Sarah has endured. Her family, her church and anyone around her is fair game for the demonic attacks. Yes, demonic. The glee with which some of the media goes after Sarah is vicious in nature.

I used to be a reporter, I know the joy of a good story, of being the one to be "first" to report on something. I finally had to quit writing for newspapers because they somehow managed to twist even the good stuff to fit their mind-set. Now I have my own on-line news sites and I can write with a clear conscious! That said just to say I do understand the lure of being the one to break a story. However, there is a line of decency and fairness that our media crosses time and time again. It's an ugly, competitive business these days and I'm so sorry that Sarah is the focal point of the attack media.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I have HAD it with CNN. I tried watching it again while at a restaurant yesterday. The bias is so blatant, the stories lead you to their conclusions, the questions asked are designed to make their point. The stories they choose to report are part of the agenda. I swallowed my food but couldn't swallow the garbage they tried to feed me via the screen.

Television has become a mind-washing machine.

We need to bombard CNN with emails. Turn them off. Write the advertisers letting them know you won't be watching them. There are probably 500 different stop the media, media watchdog, blackout media, groups around the Internet. We need to pull them all together and have a concerted voice.

I've been promoting taking over the Internet for 2010 and 2012. If we don't do something about the mainstream media (msm) we'll be fighting the battle partially blindfolded.

Working together to build a better Internet force

In the past few weeks I've seen a proliferation of networks, movement and groups forming on the Internet. Grassfire, WAM08, Modern Conservatives, Liberty Coalition of America, my very own Read My Lipstick Network and our new United Conservatives of America just to name a very few of the ones I've heard about. Team Sarah has also been a huge force in this election giving us all a place to gather and talk, encourage and get our marching orders!

Somehow we have to find a way to work as a cohesive force rather than a thousand splintered groups. We need an umbrella organization that joins all the groups together so we CAN have an impact. Divided we fall, united we WIN.

I've been emailing back and forth with a number of groups because I came up with the idea of United Conservatives of America (UCOA) to act as the umbrella organization to list all the networks, movements and resistance. However, it turns out everyone wants their group to be top of the so-called heap, so UCOA would just be another splinter. [Note: the networks I mentioned in the first paragraph are not in that category, we're all working together nicely and they're great folks! I encourage you to get involved / join all of them.]

The groups / sites / movements are willing to list mine if I'll list theirs (which of course I will). I've replied that I'll be happy to do so and that I don't really care who's "in charge" of the main site, it can be their site, but we need to have some central way of communicating and walking together albeit in loose lock-step. Problem is, there are so many that want to be the main site that no one is going to end up being a main clearing station for groups. Everyone is building their own little kingdom. Can't say I blame them, we're all fired up and want to DO something right now!

We're independent. That's one of the things that makes conservatives so special. We aren't drones and we're willing to roll up our sleeves and work... independently .

I believe our independence works against us to some degree. We get bogged down with an issue that in the scheme of things doesn't mean much. We lose the big picture while fighting over the little things. Most of us are intelligent, strong, individuals which makes it even harder to play together for any length of time.

We have to find a way to check our egos and learn to work together without giving up our own values.

The election was a prime example of how our egos and independence hurt our common cause. Remember when some of "OUR" guys started attacking Sarah Palin? Questioning McCain's choice? Did they really think that was going to get John McCain elected? Ego. They wanted to be right, to sell a column, or get on a talk show (or be able to claim they were the 'first' to discover the problem). They weren't looking at the big picture. Much as I decry the mainstream media and the libs, they put their little differences aside for the most part and painted a unified picture. We were divided and we lost. (Yes, I know that's not the only reason ;-)

Somehow if we are going to survive as conservatives, if we are going to reverse this trend, we have to find a common goal that unites us. We have to be willing to work toward a larger goal together. We need what the libs say they have (and don't), a 'big tent" approach.

Some of you are working on manifestos, common causes, banding together and getting others to join your groups. Some have started networks, petitions, plans of action, movements, etc.

Let's figure out a way to pull all of everyone's efforts together. I don't care who gets the credit and whose organization is the biggest, I want to take back our country and make it the strong, principled, free country it should be and has been. Our values and principles are being eroded as I type. Our inability to play together is going to be our downfall.
