Herman Cain: Health Care "De-form" may be slowing down

Hello Intelligent Thinkers,

Good News! The "Health Care De-form" legislation is slowing down as the feedback from voters to Congress intensifies. Moderate Democrats are sticking together so far, and most of the Republicans are standing firm against "Obamacare".

The President's prime time press conference last night gave people more doubt than confidence in the legislation moving through Congress. It is NOT the right solution to some problems with our health care system, which is not in crisis.

Even the mainstream media is starting to question many of the President's claims and "numbers" used to support the glowing picture he continues to paint about government controlled health care.

There is a definite disconnect between what the President keeps saying and the legislation that is moving through Congress. People are waking up to that reality. Let's keep the pressure on.

There are better alternatives to many of the problems that need to be fixed, but neither the President nor the Democrat leaders in Congress are listening to them.

Thanks for lending your voice!

Americans for Prosperity Update

Last week thousands upon thousands of Americans for Prosperity activists like you fought back against the false claim made by Parade Magazine that you don’t exist. You crashed Parade’s email servers with your overwhelming response...

You do exist, that’s for sure. And, to win the health care battle raging right now in Washington, D.C. we're going to need you standing and fighting like never before.

In today’s Wall Street Journal, former Bush advisor Karl Rove has a fascinating piece making note of Americans for Prosperity’s efforts to stop the Obama/Pelosi health care takeover:
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970203517304574304161389163586.html#mod=article-outset-box

Last night, President Obama made yet another prime-time national television pitch – basically calling opponents of government health care obstructionists. The president, of course, was wrong. But he did make one point that was accurate: Now is the crucial time in the health care battle. In August, every member of the Senate and House will go home for the month-long August/Labor Day break.

Our challenge is simple but daunting: put the maximum pressure humanly possible on them during their town hall meetings, district office hours, and listening tours.

Just last Friday, thousands of you all across the country rallied at your local Senate district offices to tell Congress in a resounding voice: Keep Your Hands Off Our Health Care! I stood with activists from Virginia at the Arlington office of Senator Webb.

I’m asking you to help us prepare for the crucial August congressional break now by taking three steps.

1) Contact the local district offices of your Senators and Representatives, and ask when they plan to speak face-to-face with constituents like you during August Recess.

2) Reply to this email timphillips@afp-mail.com with the details of any town hall meetings or other events you find out about in your area. I’ll make sure that information is posted to our Americans for Prosperity website so that other folks in your community can join you in attending.

3) Take a moment right now to email Karl at karl@rove.com, and thank him for taking a stand with you while the liberal media attacked. I know he’ll appreciate hearing from you.

Don’t let the politicians sit on their hands during this recess. Let’s make them earn their paychecks by listening to you and taking your message back to Washington with them.
Thank you for all you do on behalf of our shared values. Together, we’re making a difference – we can beat these threats to our freedom and prosperity. But only if folks like you and me get involved and follow through. We can’t do this without your help.

Can you help us keep the rallies and TV ads going across the country to fight the government takeover of health care? Please consider a financial contribution to help us turn up the pressure.

Sincerely,
Tim Phillips

P.S. Remember, August is crucial for our lawmakers as they travel back to their home states – they need to hear from you! Don’t forget to send us the details of their local meetings and office hours so we can post them on our website. And thank Karl Rove for acknowledging you and your passionate grassroots activism!

Health Care & Cap / Trade Alert

The time has come to take action on the Health Care Reform debate!

Now that the health care proposals are starting to be unveiled...
YOUR VOICE NEEDS TO BE HEARD!

A few things you should know before you call...

There are several bills currently on the table:

On Wednesday, July 15, 2009, the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee voted (13-10) and passed a $600 billion version that would expand coverage to almost all Americans by requiring individuals to get insurance and employers to help cover the costs. The Senate Finance Committee is also working to present a version of the bill. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid wants floor debate, on these bills, to begin by July 20. President Obama and the Democrats are trying to pass the bill by the August congressional break.

The House Democrats' health care proposal was also unveiled last week. Their plan calls for the federal government to be responsible for ensuring that every person (regardless of income or state of their health) has access to an affordable insurance plan.

It also calls for a 5.4% tax increase on individuals making more than $1 million and a gradual tax beginning on individuals who make $280,000. Employers who fail to provide health coverage will be faced with a penalty equal to 8% of the worker's wages, with an exemption for small businesses.

Take a look at the Organizational Chart of the House Democrat's Health Plan to see the web of bureaucracy this proposal creates.

How will health care reform be funded? The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) report clearly explains the "cost explosion" that would occur under the House Democrats' proposal. Currently, the federal government cannot afford existing health care commitments. The Democrats have failed to answer how we will fund the additional health care programs implemented under these bills. Read it here.

Update on Georgia Tea Party events

From Facebook message. On a side note, I'm researching to find a list of Simon Properties... I will not be shopping at anything owned by them. As you all probably know, the big honcho at Simon Properties is a huge Obama supporters, donator, etc. Enough has been shared via blogs, websites, Glenn Beck and others so I won't re-blog the history and details. Here's the latest on all a bunch of Georgia events:

As many of you know, Gwinnett Place Mall (Simon Properties) forced us to cancel the Atlanta Independence Day Tea Party, based on "reciprocal property easement agreements" - even thought it was held on private property NOT owned by the Mall/Simon. We have since found out the covenants and restrictions expired in 2004, and there were no current restrictions that would have allowed them to make us cancel. We were bluffed and bullied.

Regardless of this temporary set-back, we are already planning a bigger, even better event than April 15th, so please stay tuned for more information. In the mean time, we encourage everyone to attend a Tea Party near you and show we will not be silenced.

The Cobb County Tea Party is more of an educational event, not a protest. They will not allow protest signs at the event but there will lots of fun.

If you live in the metro area and want to attend a protest, please attend one of the ones listed below. Many in the North Metro Atlanta area will be attending the one at the Georgia Capitol. I have also listed a link to find Tea Parties throughout Georgia in case you don't live in the Metro area.
