Article re: Sarah Palin, Alaska, Stimulus Money
Stimulus funds pending as Legislature winds down
With just one week left before the Alaska Legislature adjourns for the year, the conflict between Gov. Sarah Palin and lawmakers over taking federal economic stimulus money is the dominant issue left.

Here are today's:
AP Newsbreak: Obama looks at climate engineering
The president's new science adviser said Wednesday that global warming is so dire, the Obama administration is discussing radical technologies to cool Earth's air. John Holdren told The Associated Press in his first interview since being confirmed last month that the idea of geoengineering the climate is being discussed. One such extreme option includes shooting pollution particles into the upper atmosphere to reflect the sun's rays. Holdren said such an experimental measure would only be used as a last resort.

RedState Morning Brief: Defense, Palin, Vouchers, Economy plus
Here's another great update I receive that's always chocked full of good info, short (usually), rarely sweet and always to the point. My Sarah Palin friends will appreciate #3. I'm planning on writing about #4 on one of my blogs, grrrrrrrr:

1. NYTimes: Obama's Economic Ideas Great... Just Like Hitler's Were?
The New York Times' says Obama and Hitler have GREAT economic plans. So what about that whole Holocaust thing?
For The New York Times economic scene section for March 31, David Leonhardt came across with one of the most amazing admissions about Obama that I've ever seen in the Times. Namely that Barack Obama is just like Hitler. Now, many of you may be solemnly shaking your head in agreement, but in so doing you would be missing why the Times was comparing Obama to Hitler. You see, Leonhardt didn't mean it as an insult. He was saying that it was a good thing that Barack was being like Hitler at least in an economic sense.
Here Leonhardt is taking the trains-on-time track with his Hitler angle by saying that, despite that whole Holocaust and World War II business, Hitler's policies were good for Germany. So good, in fact, that he celebrates the ways he sees that Obama is emulating the mustachioed mad-man's economic prescriptions with the massive takeover of the economy and bloated government spending on "stimulus."
You know the left has lost it when they are invoking the "success" of Hitler to prop up The One!

2. Another Homework Deficiency - Russia Sees Obama's Nuclear-Free Offer As.... A Threat
Homework? Too cool for school....
I don't know about you, but for my entire life whenever I've heard someone prattle about "a world without nuclear weapons," I roll my eyes for at least two reasons. One is the naivete; the other is the practical notion that in such a world, one "kook-with-nuke" would be king.
But it turns out that in Moscow, the Russian leadership sees the Obama offer as something else - yet another move in the game of trying to rein in Russian influence in the world.
In other words, the Kremlin sees this plan as a threat.

3. Levi Johnson Jumps On the Sarah Palin Gravy Train
Anyone else want to make some money off Sarah Palin?
This is Levi Johnson appearing on the Tyra Banks show. He's a clean cut, pretty type. That is, though, a carefully constructed image - constructed by the Palins and McCains as the Presidential campaign unfolded with the news of Bristol Palin's pregnancy.
The real Levi Johnson is something altogether different. The left, when it decided Bristol Palin was fair game, went after Levi Johnson for being a thug and redneck. He was not interested in college - only in scoring with the Governor's daughter. The classic tale of the high school jock who is, in essence, a low life loser in it for a good time. The left and media regaled the rest of us with tales of what a loser the Palin kid slept with.
The left was right. Now, though, they can't be bothered by it. Below is the actual Levi - no preppy clothes. No polish. Just good old boy who knocked up the Governor's daughter. Not exactly the image Tyra Banks and he would like you to think about.

4. Obama Administration defense cuts
He's cutting technologies that will keep us competitive against growing threats from China and Russia
Defense Secretary Robert Gates revealed the Obama Administration's restructuring of the Pentagon's top weapons priorities.
There was a lot of information thrown out in the Gates press briefing, but the biggest talking points are likely to be the cuts:
Stop the growth of Army Brigade Combat Teams (BCT) at 45 versus 48
Retire 250 of the oldest Air Force tactical fighter aircraft in FY10.
End production of the F-22 fighter at 187.
Not pursue a development program for a follow-on Air Force bomber until we have a better understanding of the need, the requirement, and the technology.
Reduce the Navy's carrier force to 10 carriers after 2040.
Delay the CG-X next generation cruiser program.
Delay amphibious ship and sea-basing programs.
End the DDG-1000 destroyer program with the third ship.
"Complete" production of the C-17 airlifter program this fiscal year with the 205 already in the force and currently in production.
Terminate the VH-71 presidential helicopter program.
Terminate the Air Force Combat Search and Rescue X (CSAR-X) helicopter program.
Terminate the $26 billion Transformational Satellite (TSAT) program.
Cancel the planned increase the number of current ground-based interceptors in Alaska.
Cancel the second airborne laser (ABL) prototype aircraft.
Terminate the Multiple Kill Vehicle (MKV) program.
Cancel the vehicle component of the Army's Future Combat Systems (FCS) program.
Reduce the number of support service contractors from our current 39% to 26% and replace them with as many as 30,000 full-time government employees.

5. Democrats Delay Release of Report Showing Success of DC Voucher Program Until After Senate Can Vote to Kill It
Never mind the children.
On Tuesday, March 10, the U.S. Senate voted to terminate the experimental Washington, DC school voucher program, which had been implemented in order to help provide poor minority children in failing DC schools with the same educational opportunities that so many children of Senators, Congressmen, and Presidents within the district have as a result of their advantageous birth.
During his Presidential campaign, President Obama indicated that he would put his personal opposition to vouchers aside "if he saw more proof that vouchers are successful." I would "not allow my predispositions to stand in the way of making sure that our kids can learn," he told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel in February 2008. "You do what works for the kids."
ow, it appears that the Obama administration and the U.S. Senate purposely kept the results of a Congressionally-mandated study showing the benefits of the Washington, DC voucher program from becoming public until after they had managed to spike the program due to its supposed "lack of effectiveness." (The executive summary is available here; the full report can be seen here.)
The result of the Obama administration delaying the release of this report, which showed that participants in the voucher program outperformed those in the district's public schools by a large margin on reading tests, is that the 1,700 low-income, minority children who are currently receiving up to $7,500 in vouchers per year to attend private school instead of their own failing DC public schools, will be forced to return to those publics after the 2009-10 school year, over the wishes of DC mayor Adrian Fenty, who said "it would not be productive to disrupt the education of children who are presently enrolled in private schools," and despite empirical evidence that such a move will consign them to a lower-quality education and a far less optimistic future.

6. Rebuilding the Movement: Online Investment
At some point, competition must yield to collaboration.
Every day in Washington, there is some right-wing group somewhere bemoaning the efforts of the right online. Sadly, for them and the rest of the right, their first thought is "let's do it ourselves", instead of "let's invest in the existing talent."
It's often bemoaned on our side that the left is much further ahead online than the right. This is true. The left has larger blogs than the right, though I still think the right has many more sites than the left. The left has a great online investigative journalism wing that gets picked up by the mainstream media. And the left has a stable of full time bloggers than is not matched on the right. I am a very rare breed on our side.
One area where the left has done a much better job than the right online is investing in blogs as a component of left-wing activism.
On the right, Heritage has its blog. Club for Growth has its blog. MRC has its blog. The GOP has its blog. The list goes on and on and on. When the right wants to get online, each organization does its own thing. That's just the way its done.
To be sure, on the left, there's a bit of the same thing going on, but then you've got groups like Media Matters that function more or less to subsidize left-wing bloggers. Oh sure, they say they are more important than that, but they aren't really.
More importantly, though, is the advertising component. What is the online advertising budget for Heritage? What about for AEI? What about for Americans for Tax Reform? Family Research Council? Leadership Institute? NFIB? NTU? National Right to Work? Club for Growth? The list goes on.
Every day in Washington, there is some right-wing group somewhere bemoaning the efforts of the right online. Sadly, for them and the rest of the right, their first thought is "let's do it ourselves", instead of "let's invest in the existing talent." Until the second becomes the first, the right will keep meeting in private to bemoan its (in)effectiveness online.
Meanwhile, the DailyKos has nine employees and a seven figure budget. Here at RedState, I have a volunteer list of two dozen contributors with full time jobs, me, and no budget.

Lots of interesting reading on our newest member's blog! Please be sure to visit and say "welcome". You'll figure out real quickly that Republican Catholics likes Sarah Palin quite a bit. She's going to have quite an army of bloggers when 2012 rolls around.

Help Cover Sarah Palin's Legal Bills
On Thursday be sure to visit www.teamsarah.org/ and donate, donate, donate. They'll be announcing a legitimate fund to help cover at least a portion, hopefully all, of the ridiculous legal fees the Palin's have incurred for ludicrous lawsuits meant to do nothing but harass since she hit the spotlight. (yes, that is a run-on sentence -- and this one is made up of a phrase or two, incomplete sentence ;-)
Be careful, there are a few groups collecting on the Internet that are questionable. Rather than get involved in a possible scam or an unknown group supposedly collecting to help Sarah, I'd suggest you stick with Team Sarah UNLESS you know the group. For instance, I'm involved with "We Need Sarah"... I'll give through them because I know they're legit.
Team Sarah is going to be doing some advertising (or so I've been told). I'm hoping they'll have buttons for our blogs and websites so we can help to raise money.
Keep in mind that money given to SarahPAC cannot be used to defray legal costs. Also, Sarah is prohibited from asking for funds.
In case you didn't hear, Bill O'Reilly donated $1,000 to Sarah for the funds. Nice.

McCain: People voted 'mostly for Sarah Palin' last year
Former Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain has no illusions about the 2008 White House race.
"God bless them," McCain said Thursday at the Heritage Foundation when reminded of the tens of millions of people who voted for him last year.
"Over 50 million people voted for me and Sarah Palin - mostly for Sarah Palin," McCain said to an eruption of laughter. But "there was a sizable majority of the other party returned to Congress. And, elections have consequences. Elections have consequences. And these consequences we are seeing now in full display."

Drum roll please... the 150th member joins the Network!
Seems like just a few short months ago we were thrilled to have ten members. Oh wait, it was just a few short months ago! The Read My Lipstick Network came into being during the latter part of the 2008 election cycle. We've lost a few blogs along the way as some who fought for McCain/Palin got discouraged after the election. Temporarily! They'll be back. For every one discouraged blogger a hundred seem to be taking up the cause these days. The energy is fantastic.
Today I announce our 150th member! Fireworks please! Drum roll! 150 gun salute. Whatever. It's neat.
Our newest member is cool with shades. She wears 'em day and night as you'll see when you check out her blog.
Rosie Shades - http://rosieshades.blogspot.com/
I love the shades and I particularly like the background in remembrance of Sept. 11th. She has some very neat stuff on the sidebar (including our blogroll), too.
If you'll scroll down her blog entries you'll see the "Honk if you're paying my mortgage" bumper sticker with a link so you can get your very own. (I want one that says "Honk if I'm paying your mortgage")
Enough about all the extras. You're going to like her writing, too!
Here are a few samples:
Modern Day Eugenics
Welcome to the world of Progressive Eugenics...
Here's a great little tutorial on eugenics if you're not familiar with it.
This new executive order reversing the ban on taxpayer funded research on humans, coupled with the plan Obama has for creating government funded/socialized medicine makes me wonder what these progressives have in mind. It all seems OK as long as you're not the one that's targeted. Right now it's embryos. It's not the first time we've removed morality from science and plunged headlong into ideas that were un American and ungodly at the expense of the innocent so don't kid yourself into believing we're immune.
The Bubbly Fed
There never should have been a central/federal bank in the united states. That was something our founders had fled from. Seeing that the government thinks they can do everything more productively than we can, it hustled in the Federal Reserve bank to supposedly end inflation forever. As usual, the government failed. If you haven't studied up about the Federal reserve bank and the reason we were forced to leave the gold standard, you should.

Four Blogs Join the Read My Lipstick Network
You'll love the variety in the latest group of Read My Lipstick Network members! They almost go from one end of the spectrum to the other (in the conservative realm).
http://conservababeblog.wordpress.com/ - Conservababe
http://raisingeden.blogspot.com/ - Raising Eden
http://feedyouradhd.blogspot.com/ - Feed Your ADHD
http://palinforus.blogspot.com/ - Palin for Us
Be sure to stop by their blogs and say hi, welcome them to the Network and introduce yourself. One of the above blogs has some real cute grandkid pictures, one has a photo that will have you wondering if you're in the right place (don't send your kids), another has no photos but great words and one has some cool photos and videos of our favorite lady (gee, who could that be?).
Hope you'll follow as many of the Network blogs as you can. We're now at 144 members, hoping to hit 200 by the end of the month (looking like that might not happen given we're almost there and have 56 to go! We do have a couple in the pipeline, so maybe we'll at least hit 150!).
Thanks for your support. Keep reading, keep blogging and keep fighting for our country.

Media Malpractice
I hope everyone with the means to do so will support John Ziegler's efforts to expose the media during the election. All Sarah Palin supporters, and anyone considering a run for office, should see Media Malpractice so they can understand the lengths the media will go to support "their" candidate. We are preparing for the 2010 and 2012 elections. We need to fully understand what we're up against and try to find ways to combat this pervasive liberal campaign tool.
The cost for the DVD is very reasonable, $19.99 plus $4.50 for shipping. If you go to see a movie at the theater you'll spend at least that much these days (if you buy popcorn or soda ;-). Buy an extra copy and give it to someone who's unable to buy their own. Have a viewing at your house, make it a party! Get the word out. We need more John Zieglers!
You can purchase the film directly here: http://howobamagotelected.com/order-media-malpractice.asp

DVD description: Documentary filmmaker John Ziegler has woven together a
compelling story using the mainstream media's own words to show how their
malpractice achieved new heights in this election and influenced the narrative
of the campaign. Carefully analyzing thousands of hours of media footage from
the past two years, Ziegler paints a stunning portrait of media malpractice that
is undeniable.

A Fairy Tale: The Delighted Republican and the Passive Governor
This is a great article from Why Mommy is a Republican, one of our newer Read My Lipstick Network members. I hope you'll read it, then share it on your blogs.
A Fairy Tale: The Delighted Republican and the Passive Governor
Michael Leahy, a WaPo staff writer, offered a piece today that serves as a prime example of what is wrong with American mainstream media today. Leahy's piece is so devoid of proper grammar, it must have either been ghost-written by a seventh grader who can wing a good piece of writing for his age or it was an attempt by Leahy to discredit Sarah Palin as someone whose mettle had been tested in the national election and found lacking, perhaps even sorely. For the sake of argument and for giving Leahy the benefit of the doubt, I will assume it was the latter.
Leahy's caricature has had the opposite effect on me than the one intended, as such ventures into fantasy land by the mainstream press often do for conservatives, because it is just the latest in a long list of examples of the most brutal testing Palin was forced to withstand – that of irresponsible journalism.

Five New Blogs Join the Read My Lipstick Network
Don't ever let anyone tell you that patriotism, love of country, conservative values and a willingness to fight for our country no longer exist! All you have to do is scan through our member blogs and you can see the spirit and spunk that helps us to rise above adversity time after time.
I know things may look bleak right now, but if we keep on fighting, keep on plugging away, we can still turn things around.
I was happy to discover that some of the following are brand new bloggers! I know you'll want to support them. Be sure to add them to your list of favorites, you're blogrolls and when you can, leave a comment so they know you're reading their words. We need an army of bloggers, keep encouraging your friends on the right to blog, tweet, post videos and keep the pressure on our elected officials.

I love my God, my Country and my Family. I am frustrated and angry at what I see going on in America and in our government. I am venting my frustrations here, but I am also hoping we can put our collective heads together and come up with a plan to do something about it. I'm afraid if we dumped a bunch of tea in the bay we would be cited for an environmental spill and be heavily fined or put in jail, so it needs to be something legal, clean, respectful, original and terribly clever.

Governor Sarah Palin's Endorsement of Governor Rick Perry
Below is a copy of the letter that Alaska Governor Sarah Palin sent to Texas Republican Women endorsing Governor Rick Perry for re-election in 2010
Dear Texas Republican Women,
After traveling all over this great country of ours, I have seldom found more endearing and inspiring women than Texas Republican women. You are independent, confident, and know how to make an impact in your state– much like the women of Alaska.
Because of your work, Texas is the largest red state in the nation, and it has a strong, conservative governor.
While a bunch of politicians have gone to Washington, hat in hand, seeking a bailout, Governor Perry has said we should stimulate the economy with tax cuts and maintain spending discipline. Rick Perry is true to conservative principles even when others think the party needs to go a different direction. I like that about him: he doesn’t care which way the wind blows, he acts on his beliefs.
That's why I am supporting Governor Rick Perry for re-election. He does what is right regardless of whether it is popular. He walks the walk of a true conservative. And he sticks to his guns – and you know how I feel about guns!
With our current economic crisis, and working families worried about their pensions, jobs, credit card debt and rising home foreclosures, we need strong conservative leadership in trend-setting states like Texas.
Rick Perry is a leader. While the nation lost half a million jobs in the last year, Texas gained 250,000 net new jobs. He improved the job climate in Texas by refusing to raise taxes in the face of the largest budget deficit in Texas history. He had the foresight to join legislators in saving for a rainy day. And he has consistently asked agency heads to cut their budgets even when surpluses were rolling in. My fellow Republicans, that’s consistent leadership. That's Rick Perry.
Click here to see the letter
Governor Perry has also advocated for greater domestic drilling for energy, and a diversified energy mix – including greater development of renewable sources – so America is not held hostage by Middle East ayatollahs and foreign dictators. But in order to overcome extremist opposition to responsible exploration, we need proven leaders in energy states like Texas who will not back down when it up comes to expanding the energy supply.
Let me say one more thing about my friend and your governor: he knows all human life is precious. Rick Perry believes in protecting the most vulnerable in society, and who is more vulnerable than an unborn child? Our value as human beings in the eyes of Our Creator is not diminished by any circumstance.
Not every child is born into ideal circumstances, but every life is sacred. Rick Perry knows this – it is at the core of his being.
Will you join me in supporting a true conservative for governor – Rick Perry? We need Texas’ diverse and strong economy to help pull us out of our economic troubles. That requires a proven CEO as the head of state government. Rick Perry is proven and principled. And we need that in the governor of our nation’s second largest state and most prosperous economy.
Sincerely,
Sarah Palin

Sarah Palin Responds to Contributions Made to Planned Parenthood in Her Name
Governor Sarah Palin today issued the following statement in response to reports that contributions are being made to Planned Parenthood in her name:
“The abortion issue has been with us for decades and has pitted well-meaning people of differing ideologies against each other. Where we can find common ground is in the belief that no one wants a single abortion.
“But when there is a clash of values, I always will come down on the side of life. Making donations to Planned Parenthood in my name might be interesting theater in these politically charged times, but it is not going to change my views or the views of many other Alaskans who believe every life is precious.
“Anti-hunting groups are employing the same tactic of using my name to promote their cause right now. Again, interesting theater.”

Three New Read My Lipstick Network Members! #RMLN #TCOT
I said our goal was to reach 200 by the end of February and we may just make it! It's easy enough to join if you're a conservative blogger. You simply add the RMLN blogroll or logo to sidebar of your blog or website, let us know so we can approve the blog and voila, you're a member.
We try hard to promote our members in every way possible. Our ultimate goal is to help conservatives take over the Internet and to help spread the conservative message. We're here and we have a voice. Most of our members are part of multiple groups, something we highly encourage.
Here are our three new members:
http://newworldorderblog.wordpress.com/ - New World Order (Conservative Christian Women…Obama’s Worst Nightmare!!).
I really loved the tagline... yep, we are Obama's worst nightmare ladies. Yeah, you guys are pretty tough, too ;-). I noticed she has the Ready to Rumble for Rush button on the sidebar --- it's making the rounds. If you'd like to join in the fight to fight for talk radio and freedom of speech go to our main site (www.readmylipsticknetwork.com) and click on the Ready to Rumble for Rush button.

www.politicaljules.com - Political Jules for Love, Life & the Pursuit of Politics
There are some witty, witty people in our Network of bloggers! Cool title. In the current post she did something which I think could start a movement... I hope it will. She took a comment about Sarah Palin, inserted Obama's name and turned it back on the commenter. GREAT idea. I think we should start doing that not just when they trash Sarah, but whenever we can turn it around. We'll probably have to clean up their language a bit, most of the posts from libs seem to be peppered with words you wouldn't use in front of most moms.
Here's a link to the article so you can see how she turned the tables:
An Obama Overview
I was having my daily, Glen Beck defined, “arguments with idiots” on a NYT article comment post thread. The continued hate that comes from the left toward Governor Sarah Palin has not waivered one bit since obama was elected. One such comment post was so over the top, that I could almost word for word, replace Sarah’s name with obama’s name, and it fit him to a tee. I had to change some of the issues points, but it turned out to be a very good overview of what Obama is, and what he stands for. So without further a due, here is what I came up with...

http://sarahpalin-report.blogspot.com/ - Sarah Palin Report
I really liked the streamlined look of this blog, nice, simple and easy to read. Sarah Palin fans are going to want to add this blog to their blog rolls and lists of favorites (I'm adding it to my lists to follow). Good stuff. I also like how she makes sure to link to supporting articles, etc. when she cites info. Here are a few sample headlines:
Cheney not worried about GOP
Dick Cheney knows it's no cake walk for Republicans but sees many issues tilting in their favor next time around. As for Governor Palin...

Palin-Berry 2012 Joins the Read My Lipstick Network
We have another great new blog joining the Read My Lipstick Network. The Palin-Berry 2012 blog is one I've added to my personal "follow" lists and I think when you read some of Deanna's thoughts you'll do the same!

Just another tidbit --- while I've never met Deanna, we're both from the metro Atlanta areas. Opposite ends of town, but still it's kind of neat to have another Georgia blogger join our ranks.

Governor Palin Welcomes International Diplomats
Governor Sarah Palin today (Jan. 2nd) is welcoming an international delegation of diplomats who are traveling to Alaska to celebrate Alaska Statehood Day on January 3, 2009. Representatives from several Asian and European countries accepted Governor Palin’s invitation to participate in weekend celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of Alaska being admitted to the Union.
“We welcome these representatives with our best Alaska hospitality. We are pleased with their recognition of the importance of our 50th anniversary,” Governor Palin said. “It is a special honor to welcome Ambassador Kislyak and to showcase our state to this high-profile international group.”
Among the traveling dignitaries is Mr. Sergey Kislyak, newly appointed Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the United States, who is making his first visit to Alaska.
“I am so pleased to be here this weekend,” Ambassador Kislyak said. “As discussed in my meeting with Governor Palin, it is encouraging to note the similarities between Alaska and the Russian Far East. Our existing commercial connections and the mutually beneficial nature of our professional partnerships can only help provide a measure of stability as, together, we face the global economic challenges that lie ahead.”
Ambassador Kislyak also met with representatives of the Aleut International Association, Institute of the North, Alaska Rule of Law Initiative, National Parks Service, ISER Alaska Chukotka Project, and Turnagain Elementary School Russian Immersion Program, all of whom have been involved in multi-year Russia-related projects.
In addition to Ambassador Kislyak, foreign dignitaries include Yuri Gerasin, Consul General of the Russian Federation; Julian Evans, British Consul General; John Mataira, Consul General of New Zealand; Balazs Bokor, Consul General of Hungary; Sten Arne Rosnes, Consul General of Norway; Haryong Lee, Consul General of Korea; Fred Santos, Consul of The Philippines; Mel Knight, Alberta’s Minister of Energy; Marvin Schneider, Alberta’s Executive Director of the U.S. and Americas; and Haijun Wang, Deputy Director General of the Foreign Affairs Office of China’s Heilongjiang Province. Mr. Wang is leading a four-person delegation from Heilongjiang Province, a sister province to Alaska, and China’s northernmost region.
Members of the Alaska consular corps will also be participating in the weekend events. Among them: Karen Matthias, of Canada; Hideo Fujita, of Japan; Hee-chul Kim, of South Korea; and Jose Luis Cuevas, of Mexico. They will be joined by honorary consuls of the Czech Republic, Poland, Finland, Seychelles, and Norway.
“We are thrilled that so many of our esteemed international friends are joining us for the auspicious occasion of our statehood celebration,” said Kris Perry, director of the Governor’s Office of International Trade. “These trade partners have been critical to the economic development of this state in the last 50 years and have helped grow the market for Alaska exports to a nearly $4 billion enterprise. Their presence here this weekend demonstrates how far Alaska has come in the arena of international commerce, and also how much promise we have for the next 50 years and beyond.”
