Blogabout

Thought we'd start doing some blog-abouts, things you may have missed and might want to blog about. We're going to try and find articles and news that are brand new or not getting a lot of attention. We'll be doing them on the Read My Lipstick Network blog and the Completely Conservative Network blog. We won't double post, so there will be different topics on Completely Conservative. Let us know if you find our blogabouts helpful. Send us a blog post where you've used one of our blogabout topics and we'll highlight your blog on here with credit, links, etc., etc.

Here are today's:

AP Newsbreak: Obama looks at climate engineering
The president's new science adviser said Wednesday that global warming is so dire, the Obama administration is discussing radical technologies to cool Earth's air. John Holdren told The Associated Press in his first interview since being confirmed last month that the idea of geoengineering the climate is being discussed. One such extreme option includes shooting pollution particles into the upper atmosphere to reflect the sun's rays. Holdren said such an experimental measure would only be used as a last resort.

New Conservative Network: Completely Conservative

We receive a lot of requests from conservatives wanting to join the Read My Lipstick Network who don't write about politics. They write about health, faith, being a mom, home schooling, daily life and other subjects, all from a conservative viewpoint.

To be a member of the Read My Lipstick Network blog content must be at least 90% political. We have to turn away some great conservatives simply because they may keep up with politics, they may vote the right way and live the conservative life, but they have blogs that only contain a smattering of political talk, if any.

So, after batting it around for a while, we've decided to start up another, an additional, as separate, conservative network called "Completely Conservative".

We are NOT doing away with the Read My Lipstick Network and it will remain our main focus.

Completely Conservative will include political blogs, but it will also include blogs about various aspects of life written BY conservatives. Life from a conservative point of view if you will.

We're setting up the blogroll and have a logo already, plus we have a blog (completely empty at the moment, http://completelyconservative.blogspot.com ;-)

If you are a member of the Read My Lipstick Network and would like to join Completely Conservative, please send an email to readmylipstick at live dot com. We'll zap you the info on the blogroll and / or logo location so you can add it to your blogs. We know you're all conservatives, so you're automatically approved.

Newest Member: Republican Catholics

First, our newest member is... drum roll please...

Republican Catholics www.republicancatholics.blogspot.com

I learn something new every time I review a new member's blog... Today I found www.Palinit.com, a conservative search engine. I bet a lot of you already knew about it didn't you? I'm going to have to try it, play around with it a bit. I just sent an email to them, will see if I can get a logo link for everyone, find out a bit more about it.

Lots of interesting reading on our newest member's blog! Please be sure to visit and say "welcome". You'll figure out real quickly that Republican Catholics likes Sarah Palin quite a bit. She's going to have quite an army of bloggers when 2012 rolls around.

Introducing our newest members!

First a short "programming note" - In a previous post I shared info on the upcoming Values Voter Summit. I was working from a printed copy of the flyer and missed the comment "invited speakers include" above all the names. Based on those who spoke last year (http://www.frcaction.org/index.cfm?c=VVS ) I'm going to guess that pretty much all of those I mentioned will probably accept. As I noted in my previous post, I'm waiting on the official press release (I called them this morning & asked to be added to the list). I'll keep you updated!

---

Some of these are fairly new blogs! Love it when more people choose to start blogging conservative. Given there are six new members I've chosen to include some of their posts rather than try to describe each for you. Please visit. Please let them know you visited. Please follow as many as you possibly can.

Conservatism for a Millennial Joins the Read My Lipstick Network

I'm beginning to think that I could give up work and do nothing but read our member's blogs! We have the best of the best on our list and we're adding more every day. I am inspired by all of you who care enough to share your thoughts, research hot topics, design blogs, network and do all of the other things you do for our country and to protect our values.

Here's another fantastic new blog member:

Conservatism for a Millennial

A twenty-something wises up.

Palin lovers are going to love Anne's blog! Conservatives in general are going to love it, too. She has some great info and excellent insights in her posts that I think will attract quite a few of you as regular readers.

I just popped over to grab some of her writings and decided that I had to share the video that's on her current post. Here's the link so you can read what she has to say about it: Trig, Piper and Sarah: Filling Your Heart up with Joy

Here's another post that caught my eye:

However, I am on Team Palin, and I believe that anything Jindal does, she can do better...

Blogroll update

Of course, since we have now moved away from using the blogroll, they're ready to go live on March 2nd. SO, anyone who has the blogroll on their site still, may as well leave it. We're going to give everyone the option of using the blogroll OR the logo in the future. If you've switched to the logo already, that's great just leave it there.

One advantage to having the blogroll has always been that it's great advertising for your blogs. People can scroll down the list and see other members, find cool blogs they want to follow. We have it set up so that each time the page is renewed it re-arranges the blog list so everyone has a shot at being displayed at the top.

When they go live on March 2nd AND we've updated the blogroll, I'll send out another message letting you know.

Sorry for all the back and forth! We've been held hostage for months with this and have been more frustrated than most of you probably .

A Fairy Tale: The Delighted Republican and the Passive Governor

This is a great article from Why Mommy is a Republican, one of our newer Read My Lipstick Network members. I hope you'll read it, then share it on your blogs.

A Fairy Tale: The Delighted Republican and the Passive Governor
Michael Leahy, a WaPo staff writer, offered a piece today that serves as a prime example of what is wrong with American mainstream media today. Leahy's piece is so devoid of proper grammar, it must have either been ghost-written by a seventh grader who can wing a good piece of writing for his age or it was an attempt by Leahy to discredit Sarah Palin as someone whose mettle had been tested in the national election and found lacking, perhaps even sorely. For the sake of argument and for giving Leahy the benefit of the doubt, I will assume it was the latter.

Leahy's caricature has had the opposite effect on me than the one intended, as such ventures into fantasy land by the mainstream press often do for conservatives, because it is just the latest in a long list of examples of the most brutal testing Palin was forced to withstand – that of irresponsible journalism.

New Read My Lipstick Network members and a few tips

I spent yesterday evening going through my inbox, cleaning out all the old stuff in my "to-do" folder and guess what I found? Blogs waiting to be added to our list, blogs pending adding the logo or blogroll (which is no longer used) and some who just had questions.

I sent out my apologies and have now updated our member lists. I thought that rather than try and point to the blogs that I forgot to add and/or the new ones that have been added the past couple of days, that I'd just post the last 20 or so blogs that have been added to the list.

Lisa, www.genuinegopmom.blogspot.com, made an excellent suggestion that makes it easy for you to follow your favorite blogs. Check out www.bloglines.com. We currently have 139 blogs in our membership with a few more pending, so it's kind of hard to read them all! However, try to support your fellow bloggers by following them, sharing some of their posts on your blog and / or writing about their blogs at times (with link and credit of course).

One thing that helps with search engine ranking is the number of incoming links to your blog. If you're writing about others and linking to them, chances are they'll do the same for you. We're all fighting for rank and readers. Networking helps.

Five New Blogs Join the Read My Lipstick Network

Don't ever let anyone tell you that patriotism, love of country, conservative values and a willingness to fight for our country no longer exist! All you have to do is scan through our member blogs and you can see the spirit and spunk that helps us to rise above adversity time after time.

I know things may look bleak right now, but if we keep on fighting, keep on plugging away, we can still turn things around.

I was happy to discover that some of the following are brand new bloggers! I know you'll want to support them. Be sure to add them to your list of favorites, you're blogrolls and when you can, leave a comment so they know you're reading their words. We need an army of bloggers, keep encouraging your friends on the right to blog, tweet, post videos and keep the pressure on our elected officials.

1. http://genuinegopmom.blogspot.com/ - Why Mommy is a Republican
If you're curious about the Tech Summit our new RNC Chair, Michael Steele put together, be sure to check out Why Mommy is a Republican:
GOP Tech Summit
On February 13, the GOP, under the leadership of our new chairman Michael Steele, held a Tech Summit to discuss the technological innovations that the party can implement to more readily engage voters. All were invited to the table to present their ideas.

2. http://realtrueamerican.blogspot.com - Real True American
American's Right to Defend One's Property in Jeopardy
Imagine that you are home minding your own business. You are a simple cattle rancher who wants to spend his days in peace in the Arizona countryside next to the border with Mexico. You are not near any major cities where crime runs rampant.
3. http://weeklypoliticalreview.blogspot.com - Weekly Political Review
Update on Democrats' Needed Vocabulary Lesson
I feel like banging my head against the wall. Democrats must have missed the day in school where they learned the meaning of the words "vetting" and "transparent".
4. http://www.oneangryamericanwoman.blogspot.com - One Angry American Woman

I love my God, my Country and my Family. I am frustrated and angry at what I see going on in America and in our government. I am venting my frustrations here, but I am also hoping we can put our collective heads together and come up with a plan to do something about it. I'm afraid if we dumped a bunch of tea in the bay we would be cited for an environmental spill and be heavily fined or put in jail, so it needs to be something legal, clean, respectful, original and terribly clever.

5. http://1ldsmom.blogspot.com/ - One LDS Mom

Be sure to scroll down the sidebar, she has some great quotes.

"Each of us has a natural right—from God—to defend his person, his liberty, and his property. These are the three basic requirements of life, and the preservation of any one of them is completely dependent upon the preservation of the other two."-Frederic Bastiat (1801-1850) A French economist, statesman, and author.

Finally giving up on blogrolling

A note to Read My Lipstick Network members:

Well, we've been more than patient and so have all of our members! You all have been wonderful as we waited for update after update promising that blogrolling would be back up tomorrow, next week, after they did this or that. It's hard to be irritated when the guys who are hosting the blogroll site are doing it at no cost... However, it's rather ridiculous for them to keep promising something they're obviously not going to deliver.

I'd like to ask all of you to take down the blogroll and instead just put up our logo. Please link it to: http://www.readmylipsticknetwork.com/.

If you prefer to leave the blogroll up, that's fine, it still links to the right place. Just know that we can't add any of the blogs who've joined our ranks since early November 2008.

We're going to be doing some new things to help promote your blogs in the near future. We'll keep you posted on here.

As many of our older members know, we provide a full page rss feed for most of our members on our main website. We're continuing to add more as time permits. All of us who maintain the Read My Lipstick Network have full time jobs and / or we're full time Moms (well, no matter what you do, you're a full time mom if you have kiddos at home ;-)

One last thing for all of our newer members - send us your logo and we'll add it to the slide show that rolls across the home page of our main site. Send it to readmylipstick at live dot com.

Thanks for your patience! If anyone is aware of another blogrolling host, please let us know. We much prefer to be able to use something along those lines.

The Intellectual Redneck blog joins the Read My Lipstick Network

First, before I tell you about our newest member, I want to give you an update on our blogroll.

We've been really, really, exceptionally patient with the blogrolling group. However, they're still down and not allowing us to update. SO, on Friday, if they're not back up, we're ditching them. We haven't been able to find an alternative blogroll host, software or code that allows us to do it ourselves so we'll be going to simply using the Read My Lipstick Network logo with a link to our main site.

If any of you would like to go ahead and make the switch, feel free to do so as I seriously doubt blogrolling will magically meet OUR deadline .

We've posted the logo here: http://rmlnblogroll.blogspot.com/ (two sizes are on the sidebar with the link). If you need help, let me know and I'll try to walk you through how to make the logo link to the website.

Now, for the really good news! We have a new member... and have two pending (waiting on them to add the logo link).

The Intellectual Redneck - http://bloggingredneck.blogspot.com/

I got a kick out of his profile: "You know that really weird guy that lives up the street? That's me."

Here's one of his posts, which I'll also be adding to my Barracuda Babes blog... and maybe a few others that I contribute to at times. We have two fights looming, the one the Intellectual Redneck writes about below and the Fairness Doctrine. I hope you'll read this and go ahead and start calling and writing to protest:

Fighting back against "Card Check" (EFCA)
The Save Our Secret Ballot organization is trying to amend state's Constitutions to force secret ballot votes for all public elections. Who would have ever thought it would have come to this in America. The secret ballot vote is as American as apple pie. Many people have given their life defending this country and our right to vote in secret as our conscience dictates. Now, unions and Democrats are trying to take that right away from workers during a unionization campaign. They are doing this with an ironically named bill titled "The Employee Free Choice Act".

Two new blogs join the Read My Lipstick Network

We're adding two new blogs to our stellar star-studded, brilliant group of bloggers today... Yeah, I know, that was maybe a bit over the top, but as bad as it is out there today, we need some encouragement and flattery. It happens to be true flattery, so that makes it even better .

Here are our newest bloggers:

- Red, White and Blue in Colorado - http://1milehigher.blogspot.com/

Here are a few links to some of her posts:
Not all African Americans are lock step with Mr. O
The Emperor Has No Clothes
I had to share this editorial I found on the Canadian Free Press site. I couldn't have expressed the thought better than the man who wrote this.
What a Difference a Month Makes
What can be said about the happenings of the past month or so? What is happening in our country? It's time for action on the part of all patriotic citizens who love America and believe we are the greatest nation in the world!!

- I'm sick of the crap - http://www.imsickofthecrap.com/

Interesting title . Here's the blog description:
If you are like most of us, you are full up to here by now with all the political carping and CRAP! Enough is enough already! It is time that we come back together again as Americans, and forget all the political CRAP.
This site is dedicated to those who have the intellectual honesty to put the best interests of their country ahead of their petty, self-serving partisan interests, or CRAP.

Here are a few blog links:

George W. Bush - Last President of the United States of America
It was a good run – 216 years, 43 Presidents, 111 Congresses. The United States of America rose from a far-flung colony of Imperial Britain to the last superpower left.

Free Enterprise and Global Warming
Thomas L. Friedman, the New York Times columnist, who has been pushing for higher gas prices for the last several years, is promoting a new book, “Hot, Flat and Crowded.” No, the book is not about the oxygen bar at a ballerina convention. It is about, you guessed it, global warming,

Political Terrorism
There is another terrorist attack occurring in America, right under our very noses. We know that the United States of America, and other democratic nations, are currently fighting a war against Islamic fundamentalists, who use terrorism as a tactic to further their agenda.

Three New Read My Lipstick Network Members! #RMLN #TCOT

I said our goal was to reach 200 by the end of February and we may just make it! It's easy enough to join if you're a conservative blogger. You simply add the RMLN blogroll or logo to sidebar of your blog or website, let us know so we can approve the blog and voila, you're a member.

We try hard to promote our members in every way possible. Our ultimate goal is to help conservatives take over the Internet and to help spread the conservative message. We're here and we have a voice. Most of our members are part of multiple groups, something we highly encourage.

Here are our three new members:

http://newworldorderblog.wordpress.com/ - New World Order (Conservative Christian Women…Obama’s Worst Nightmare!!).
I really loved the tagline... yep, we are Obama's worst nightmare ladies. Yeah, you guys are pretty tough, too ;-). I noticed she has the Ready to Rumble for Rush button on the sidebar --- it's making the rounds. If you'd like to join in the fight to fight for talk radio and freedom of speech go to our main site (www.readmylipsticknetwork.com) and click on the Ready to Rumble for Rush button.

-

www.politicaljules.com - Political Jules for Love, Life & the Pursuit of Politics
There are some witty, witty people in our Network of bloggers! Cool title. In the current post she did something which I think could start a movement... I hope it will. She took a comment about Sarah Palin, inserted Obama's name and turned it back on the commenter. GREAT idea. I think we should start doing that not just when they trash Sarah, but whenever we can turn it around. We'll probably have to clean up their language a bit, most of the posts from libs seem to be peppered with words you wouldn't use in front of most moms.

Here's a link to the article so you can see how she turned the tables:
An Obama Overview
I was having my daily, Glen Beck defined, “arguments with idiots” on a NYT article comment post thread. The continued hate that comes from the left toward Governor Sarah Palin has not waivered one bit since obama was elected. One such comment post was so over the top, that I could almost word for word, replace Sarah’s name with obama’s name, and it fit him to a tee. I had to change some of the issues points, but it turned out to be a very good overview of what Obama is, and what he stands for. So without further a due, here is what I came up with...

-

http://sarahpalin-report.blogspot.com/ - Sarah Palin Report
I really liked the streamlined look of this blog, nice, simple and easy to read. Sarah Palin fans are going to want to add this blog to their blog rolls and lists of favorites (I'm adding it to my lists to follow). Good stuff. I also like how she makes sure to link to supporting articles, etc. when she cites info. Here are a few sample headlines:

Cheney not worried about GOP
Dick Cheney knows it's no cake walk for Republicans but sees many issues tilting in their favor next time around. As for Governor Palin...
Barracuda on Wildlife ad
Governor Palin responds to the Defenders of Wildlife Campaign ad:“It is reprehensible and hypocritical that the Defenders of Wildlife would use Alaska and my administration as a fundraising tool to deceive Americans into parting with their hard-earned money...
Ashley Judd vs. Barracuda
Ashley Judd's agenda on this Wildlife Action Fund ad is obvious: Stop Sarah Palin. Judd certainly didn't include how this practice...

Like to attract more readers and followers?

When Caffienated Thoughts joined the Network, I noticed that he visited most, if not all, of our member blogs and left a comment. He made a comment that showed he actually read the blog, then introduced himself as a new member of the Network.

I talked to a number of those who write regularly and most of them popped over to his blog, read some of the entries and now they're following him.

That's one great way to bring attention to your blog: go visit others and leave comments. Chances are if you aren't blatant and openly self-serving and leave an insightful comment, they'll go check you out and maybe write about your blog.

You don't necessarily even have to leave a link to your blog if you're on blogger. If you're signed into your blog when you go blog jumping, the "from" will link to your account as long as you don't go with the "anonymous" option if offered.

Grace Explosion is great about visiting other blogs and leaving excellent comments. Guess what? I follow her on all my personal blogs.

Another way to bring attention to your blog is to grab a headline link and snippet from the blogs you like to share with your readers. You'd be surprised at how many people have Google alerts set up on their blog title, or have similar ways of discovering where their blog is being posted. As long as you're making sure not to step on toes (by reprinting the entire blog without permission), you'll often draw the owner of the blog to yours. Oftentimes they'll follow or subscribe if they like your content.

The blogging community is growing and there are a lot of excellent writers out there. Supporting the blogs you like is a win-win proposition. You'll both attract more readers and regular followers.

Those are just two ways to attract readers. There are many, many more. Good tag words, networking, feeding to Twitter and Facebook are other easy ways to draw attention to your blog. I'll try and highlight some more off and on. If you have any suggestions, send 'em my way and I'll share them with a link to your blog.

Alexa Shrugged joins the Read My Lipstick Network

Being a big Ayn Rand fan I think Alexa's play on the one of Rand's best-known books, Atlas Shrugged, is a real attention grabber. I found the blog a while back and have been popping over and reading off and on. I think you'll all agree it's a nice addition to our family of blogs!

Conservatism is...

I've created a new blog titled "Conservatism is..."

I'd like to ask you, and your friends if you'd like to share this, to share your thoughts on conservative values, the reason you're a self-titled conservative, what you think it means to be conservative, and whatever else you'd like to share keeping in mind the title of the blog "Conservatism is...".

I will post your thoughts and essays with a link back to your blog and / or website (s), your name if you'd like it included and a brief bio if you send it. Be as long-winded or brief as you'd like keeping in mind one sentence doesn't constitute an "essay" .

My idea is to 1) share the true meaning of the label conservative, 2) promote you and your writings, 3) sell conservatism to all those who have erroneous views on the label.

I'll be linking the blog on about 200 or so websites and blogs, plus once I have a logo it'll have it's own ads on untold blogs. We've just posted our first "essay" (from Vets on the Watch) and we'll be posting more later today (already have five from some of our great bloggers!).

Hope you have time to help! Send the essays to this email address: readmylipstick at live.com.

The address is http://conservatismis.blogspot.com and www.conservatismis2.wordpress.com (haven't posted anything on the wordpress version yet...)

Conservative Principles

One of our member blogs, Governor Sarah Palin for President, also has a blog, Conservative Web Brigade. On it he has condensed Russell Kirk's Ten Conservative Principles into four. I am heading back over to his blog to read the four in more detail, then to read the ten more closely. I thought I'd share links to both with you and get your opinion on the principles. It would be nice for us to have something similar for the Network. It could be that all we really need to do is link to one or both of these groups. I don't see any need to reinvent wheels if they're made correctly!

If you have time, please read through both and let me know if you think we can improve, expand or if they sound fine to you.

What we believe:
We believe in Russell Kirk's Ten Conservative Principles, and we organize them into four essential categories:
1. Individual Liberty - Our basic rights have been bestowed upon us by our Creator. Government must not interfere in our lives. With these rights given to us, we are charged with taking responsibility for our actions and to endeavor to make our society a better one for all. We the people, not government, have the indiviual responsibilty of helping the disadvantaged through our own voluntary charitable... http://compleatconservatives.blogspot.com/

Being neither a religion nor an ideology, the body of opinion termed conservatism possesses no Holy Writ and no Das Kapital to provide dogmata. So far as it is possible to determine what conservatives believe, the first principles of the conservative persuasion are derived from what leading conservative writers and public men have professed during the past two centuries. After some introductory remarks on this general theme, I will proceed to list ten such conservative principles... http://www.kirkcenter.org/kirk/ten-principles.html

Blog to check out!

Thought I'd pass this blog along to all: GrammyCracker.blogspot.com

Great title, definitely worth checking out. We're suggesting that anyone who likes it (and I think all will) add it to their sidebar list of favorites or a separate blogroll if you have one (not the Read My Lipstick Network blogroll). You may want to add it as a blog to follow if you're on Blogger, too.

Speaking of blogrolls, Paul at American Sentinel (http://theamericansentinel.com) has very graciously offered to help get us set up with a self-updating blog roll!!! Pretty soon all of our members will be able to stick some code on the side of your sidebar and never have to touch it again. We'll add new members on our end and your blog roll will automatically update just like the American Solutions Independent Blogroll that I HOPE all have joined and have posted on their sidebars. If you haven't, look on the sidebar of this blog, scroll down and you'll see the blogroll.

If you're out scouting around on the Internet and find a good blog you'd like to see included in the network be sure to let them know about what we're doing and send them this way.

Here's a way you can help Sarah Palin and John McCain: Encourage your friends to set up their own support blog and have them be faithful in posting their pro-Palin, pro-McCain comments through the election! The more blogs we have set up and the more enthusiasm there is for our ticket, the better our chances of success will be on November 4th!

Volunteer to pick up your friends and acquaintances on November 4th (or now if your state votes early). Offer to give shut-ins a ride to the polls. Stop by your local voting location and pick up absentee information to give to those who are going out of town or who may forget to vote. Make a list of friends and call them a few days before the election and remind them to go vote (make sure all these people are voting Republican first ;-)

Send all your friends and email and encourage them to sign up for McCain updates, to vote or send them links to positive news stories or blogs that are supportive and interesting.

There are all kinds of little things you can do that could make a huge difference on November 4th and to the future of our country. I'm sure you can add to my list!

and

http://www.lasso-of-truth.blogspot.com/
Seekers of Truth, Justice and the American Way... While still living in the REAL world.

Here's the beginning of one blog that caught my attention:
Sarah Palin
I have had several people ask me what I think of Sarah Palin this week. One person that asked is a hardcore, far-left liberal. She thought I would not like her because she is a woman and the feminist that asked - she knows I am conservative. Her shock was evident when I said that not only do I like her, but I like her better than I like McCain. She was very surprized, so I explained... I would vote for a black man or a woman - just not the ones whose views and policies are polar opposite of mine. (click the title to read the entire blog)

---

Welcome to both of these great blogs! Please add them to your link lists and / or blog rolls. Hopefully we'll see them on Team Sarah, too.

If you're on Blogger they have a great new service "Followers" which allows you to privately or publicly follow blogs on your Dashboard / main page. It's cool 'cause it just shows a bit from recent posts allowing you to scan for articles of interest. It will pick up any blog with RSS I gather. You can turn on the ability to show YOUR followers in Layout (add gadget).

I know you're all glued to the radio and television trying to keep up with what is going on with our financial system. I think McCain is looking VERY Presidential.
