Ms. Big Stuff Murkowski

Change the lyrics very slightly... and think Lisa Murkowski... or maybe even Barack Obama. Big Stuff. Who do you think you are?

Jean Knight, Mr. Big Stuff

(Oh yeah, ooh)
Mr. Big Stuff
Who do you think you are
Mr. Big Stuff
You're never gonna get my love

Now because you wear all those fancy clothes (oh yeah)
And have a big fine car, oh yes you do now
Do you think I can afford to give you my love (oh yeah)
You think you're higher than every star above

Mr. Big Stuff
Who do you think you are
Mr. Big Stuff
You're never gonna get my love

Now I know all the girls I've seen you with
I know you broke their hearts one after another now, bit by bit
You made 'em cry, many poor girls cry
When they try to keep you happy, they just try to keep you satisfied

Mr. Big Stuff, tell me tell me
Who do you think you are
Mr. Big Stuff
You're never gonna get my love

I'd rather give my love to a poor guy that has a love that's true (oh yeah)
Than to be fooled around and get hurt by you
Cause when I give my love, I want love in return (oh yeah)
Now I know this is a lesson Mr. Big Stuff you haven't learned

Mr. Big Stuff, tell me
Who do you think you are
Mr. Big Stuff
You're never gonna get my love

Mr. Big Stuff
You're never gonna break my heart
Mr. Big Stuff
You're never gonna make me cry

Mr. Big Stuff, tell me
Just who do you think you are
Mr. Big Stuff
You're never gonna get my love
Mr. Big Stuff

Morning laugh... and rant...

Murkowski Campaign Misspells its Candidate's Name

Given that Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) hopes thousands of Alaskans will write her name onto their ballots, she can't be happy that her campaign pulled an ad after urging voters to go to "LisaMurkwski.com", the Washington Post notes.

Ironically, the ad aimed to inform voters how to correctly file a write-in ballot.

-----

Loved it that Republicans are punishing Murkowski. She is the poster child for "it's all about me, Me, ME". She is putting her own ego above that of not just the people of Alaska, but the Republican party as a whole, conservatives across the country and the overall future of our country.

Ya know, sometimes you just have to be willing to put your own hurt and anger aside and try to channel your better side. She probably could have used her loss and status to garner respect and a good job of some sort, maybe even come back in a few years to run for another seat successfully. The fact that she chose to hurt and lash out rather than do the right thing shows that she is not someone we want in office. The sense of entitlement that some of our political 'elite' have is shameful.

One note on the Murkowski name misspelling -- from what I've heard, it's doubly critical for her because if anyone misspells her name on the ballot, it's tossed. SO, if someone puts an "a" instead of the "o" or a "y" instead of the "i", the ballot is tossed. Let's hope that there are a lot of ballots tossed, or better yet, so few that they give her ego the beating it deserves.

If Joe Miller loses and the seat goes to a Democrat because of her ego, she will be a pariah forever. I hope Joe Miller trounces both his opponents.

We may be dependent upon election "quirks" to stop Dems

I read a couple of articles over the past few days on election 'quirks' that might be to our benefit in November. We all know that the Dems are planning on ramming their agenda down our throats AFTER the Nov. 2nd election if they lose the majority, probably even if they don't. Come January hopefully they won't have the ability to cripple our country any further... as long as the Republicans stay smart and hang tough.

It's kind of crazy when you think about it. They've had the majority plus the Presidency for 18 months and could have passed anything they wanted. Instead they're going to wait until after the elections to do the worst of the worst in hopes that a few Dems won't be forced to vote and lose their election. If some of these all-of-a-sudden-sorta converted leaning-more-to-the-right Dems win, they'll become back-sliders the day after the election.

Anyway, there's a possibility that election laws may keep the Dems from having enough votes to slam stuff through regardless of their desire and attempts. Per the article below, and a similar one in the Wall Street Journal, they may not have as many votes as they'd like.

The article in the Wall Street (New Spat: Senator's Swearing-In Date, Sept. 10) highlights a dispute over what happens when someone is appointed. The Republicans officials are saying the state law indicates that Michael Bennet (D) steps down Nov. 2nd if his opponent, Ken Buck (R), wins.

This is interesting stuff and will be worth watching... Let's hope the courts interpret the law the way the Republicans see it for a change.

Quirks May Cut Senate Democrats' Majority in Lame-Duck Session

Quirks in state election laws may reduce Senate Democrats’ majority right after the November election, making the always-difficult task of legislating during a possible lame-duck session even tougher. The terms of Democrats Roland Burris of Illinois, Ted Kaufman of Delaware and West Virginia’s Carte Goodwin, all appointed to their seats, will expire with the Nov. 2 elections...

‘Fair Tax’ seen as wedge issue to push split between Republicans, Tea Party

Democrats are eyeing the “fair tax” as a wedge issue in the 2010 elections, hoping to force Republican candidates across the country to take a stand on the conservative proposal.
http://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/93455-fair-tax-seen-as-wedge-to-split-gop-tea-party

---

Democrats are eyeing everything as a potential to split the conservative vote. We better keep our eye on the goal, be focused on winning the trophy, and be willing to vote the big picture rather than being one-issue voters (unless it something egregious)!!! Lets get conservatives in our elected offices and then next go around work on getting even BETTER candidates.

As someone commented on an earlier blog --- we should pull any new candidates voting record (as in, voted Dem, Republican or other) AND if they've been in office, also pull their votes while in office... research is EASY to do these days. It's also easy to get distorted and incomplete information from a candidates opponents so be sure NOT to take anything you read, get in the mail or see on the tube at face value. Go to the Internet and research before you accept any criticism or attack on a candidate you think is worth a potential vote.

Let's get behind Christine O"Donnell in Delaware!

I've been watching and reading about Christine O'Donnell for a while. I've been impressed and I think my fellow Tea Party / conservative / 912 project friends will be impressed with her, too. She's up against an insider Republican, Rep. Mike Castle. He is Delaware's 9-term at-large congressman and a former 2-term governor of the state. He has powerful money, powerful friends and powerful insider support. He voted for Cap & Trade... which is enough of a reason NOT to support him as far as I'm concerned. However, as I read more about him it turned into blah, blah, blah, more of the same old, same old entrenched RINO type Republican. He knows the game.

Christine on the other hand comes from a large family, doesn't have the insider, "you slap my back and I'll slap yours" big dollar support, and has strong conservative values, the kind we need in Washington. She's running a grassroots, feet on the ground, campaign. She needs your feet, your support and your good wishes. If you have friends in Delaware, see what you can do to get them on board and behind her campaign.

The "machine" is coming after her with some negative publicity (gee, she isn't rich, as if that's a negative for most of us!). When they start coming after you with a whisper, innuendo campaign, you know you're becoming a thorn in their side.

Christine is one of six children and said her childhood taught her life was "hard, but hard work can overcome anything." She has been a commentator on FOX and other outlets and has been a marketing consultant and political activist. She ran for the US Senate against Biden in 2006 and is running again against Mike Castle, RINO Republican, and a Democrat named Coons.

I hope you'll do a little research, then consider sending a few dollars her way if you can. If we can get a true conservative in Delaware it'll really strengthen our fight for this country.

Red State/ Erick Erickson: Replacing the Old Guard
And if we can, I say we go with Ovide LaMontagne in New Hampshire and Christine O’Donnell in Delaware. Let’s go all and all in for small government conservatives. This year is our last best chance in a long time to get a slate of solid conservatives.

Modcon endorses Christine O'Donnell in Delaware
March 22, 2010
The one authentic conservative running for the U.S. Senate from Delaware this year is Christine O'Donnell, a marketing consulant and TV commentator (FOX and other outlets). Christine is a pro-life, pro-Second Amendment constitutional and social conservative. Her opponent in the Republican primary is Mike Castle, an Arlen Specter-type "Republican" who voted for cap-and-trade. The Democrat in the race, Chris Coons, is an Obamabot who never saw anything in the Obama agenda that he couldn't embrace.

Can Christine O'Donnell win this race? In a Rasmussen Poll last December, she was running a competitive race against hypothetical Democrat candidate, Beau Biden, Joe's son. That poll may have been a factor in Beau's staying out of the race. In the Rasmussen Poll, Christine was outpolling Beau almost two-to-one among Independents.

Christine O'Donnell may well surprise the political world as much as Scott Brown did in MA!

Modern Conservative is delighted to endorse a true "modern conservative," Christine O'Donnell.

Here's a 2008 article Christine wrote for Townhall:

Obama Supports Global Tax From United Nations
For an entire week, Americans watched as Senator Barack Obama took his act on the road, courting the European elitists and cowtowing to an endless array of foreign politicians. At this point it may be easy to take Obama’s “celebri-plomacy” lightly. Yet, his trip highlights a dangerous threat to America’s national sovereignty in the form of his globalist policies that will diminish America’s role in the world and outsource decisions of vital national interest to the United Nations.
http://townhall.com/columnists/ChristineODonnell/2008/08/08/obama_supports_global_tax_from_united_nations

And a 2008 Politico article on her run against Joe Biden:

Joe Biden's other female foe

In his debate with Gov. Sarah Palin on Thursday, Joe Biden told the American public that “all you have to do is go down Union Street with me in Wilmington, or go to Katie’s Restaurant” to get a sense of how people feel about the economy.

Fake Florida Tea Party??

I just joined the Ning site: the912project.us and was popping around looking at some posts and saw the title "Fake Florida Tea Party???". I scanned through the post and subsequent comments. It concerned me enough to want to put the question to all of my Twitter, blogger, Facebook friends to see if there's any merit.

Rumors are flying I gather that this now officially registered political party is a Democratic group started to take down Republicans. I'd guess (if I read closer) that they might also be working to split the vote which would most definitely help Democrats.

However, I would think that if people like you and I joined the Florida tea party group as an honest choice, then subsequently discovered that all they did was trash Republicans, we'd leave and they'd fail. Then again, if it's attracting only those who are simply frustrated without any knowledge of how the system truly works, it could have a negative impact.

On the subject of having a tea party party ... I don't think we're quite there yet. Right now we don't need to be splintering the vote any further. We already have a number of third parties with Libertarian being at the top of the heap in my humble estimation. Unfortunately history has shown that pretty much any third party on the ballot changes the outcome and in most cases gets the most undesirable person running elected. There are exceptions, but right now we are out to save our country and I don't think splintering the vote any further is a helpful way to do it, even though I'm not happy with either of the two main political parties. Although, I am happy with the way the Republicans in D.C. are currently holding it together and doing the right thing. Would that they had been this strong and right in the days when they were in 'power'.

I think we need to be all about changing our party of choice. It's easier to start with the Republican Party at the moment because it's technically more aligned with most conservative values. However, the members don't necessarily adhere or do more than give lip service to many of those values. We need every Republican aligned tea party member, every person who wants to change D.C. to get involved in the Republican Party and change it from the inside.

Ditto on the Democrat Party. There are a lot of conservatives in the Democratic Party although most are jumping ship given the take over of the Dems by the libs / progressives. True Democrats are no more aligned with the ultra libs and progressives than most of us. They're looking for a home and a voice, too.

With the vibrant, can-do, must-do attitude of all of us who are involved in the Tea Party / 912 Project working together, we can change BOTH parties. However, as I've said before, standing on the outside throwing stones doesn't change anything. It makes people dig in, put up barricades and work harder to protect their domain.

Learn from those who are now destroying our country... they realized that their protests in the 60's and 70's didn't do anything of substance. They chucked their signs into the closet and got teaching jobs. They started ACORN. They infiltrated society. They worked on the egos and courted of our so-called "stars" to get a voice. They worked from the inside and look where they are now...

We have an advantage in that we're already a member of the very groups that need to be fixed. We vote. We're active. We have facts. We can make a change faster because we are open and united in most areas. As long as we don't allow ourselves to get side-tracked by things that can be fixed AFTER we correct the course of the country, then we will succeed and we will stem, then reverse, the tide of progressivism (is that a word? spell check will soon let me know ;-).

Getting involved in your local political parties will have more of a long-term affect on this country than the majority of things you could probably do (aside from electing Scott Brown in Massachusetts ;-). Most organizations have a shortage of worker-bees. Generally 10% are active and willing to work. Be one of those 10%. Get involved, get your friends involved, then move up the chain and join forces with others to make changes. Get into elected office after you have the support of your party. Then you can REALLY make some changes!

I could write a book filled with ideas to change the system. One thing is for certain, it's going to take more than the 2010 and 2012 election to fix the mess that we now clearly see. We've been complacent in some ways, even when we've been involved. I don't think any of us realized how corrupted the entire system had become.

This year has ripped the cover off and exposed the gooey mess that has been supporting the system's veneer. The "progressives" have been working since FDR and before to challenge and change what our founding fathers put into play. We are now challenged and tasked with trying to save what they've destroyed. Get your butts off the couch, stand up and move away from the computer, it's time to put some feet with those words you write.

Oh, and see what you can find out about the Florida Tea Party party. Let me know please.

AFP: Take Action! Tell your Senators to Stop Socialized Health Care

Take Action! (Americans for Prosperity)

We told you about efforts to jam a cap-and-trade energy tax through the Senate using reconciliation, a trick to avoid proper debate and the normal 60 vote requirement for important legislation, and you sprung into action, generating a flood of calls and emails to the Senate and IT WORKED. WE WON that fight and kept cap-and-trade out of reconciliation.

Last week, Sen. Johanns introduced a budget amendment to prohibit the use of reconciliation for cap-and-trade, and it passed on a solid 67-31 vote. Every Republican supported the amendment, as did 26 Democrats. Before the Johanns amendment passed, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid indicated he wanted to do both cap-and-trade and health care under reconciliation, saying that cap-and-trade revenues would be "exactly how much we need for the first phase of health care reform."

Unfortunately, THERE IS NO TIME TO CELEBRATE, because now Democrats are poised to pull the reconciliation trick for their plan to NATIONALIZE AND RATION HEALTH CARE.

There are a few senators that are going to be very influential in this fight. If you know anyone in the following states please forward this email to them: Arkansas, Indiana, Montana, Nevada and North Dakota. We need your help to get the word out!

While the Senate passed a budget resolution without reconciliation language, the House budget specifically includes a section authorizing the use of reconciliation for a national health care plan. This is despite the fact that reconciliation is only relevant in the Senate, where it can short-circuit debate and pass legislation with only 50 votes instead of the regular 60.

This is a TRICK to let Senate Democrats claim they passed a budget without reconciliation, only to have it slipped back in during conference committee, when the House and Senate budgets are combined.

Please click here to send a message to your senator OPPOSING HEALTH CARE RECONCILIATION.

The dean of the Senate, Sen. Robert C. Byrd, Democrat from West Virginia, has made it crystal clear that this is not what reconciliation is for, saying, "I was one of the authors of the legislation that created the budget 'reconciliation' process in 1974, and I am certain that putting health-care reform and climate change legislation on a freight train through Congress is an outrage that must be resisted."

The stakes are enormous. Two big steps toward government-run health care are already in place with the national health information database and the comparative effectiveness research that were hidden in the stimulus plan. We are now only a few steps away from establishing a national health board that will RATION CARE based on the results of comparative effectiveness research, and a coverage mandate designed to, over time, shift more and more people into a government-run and government-controlled health care plan.

Moving health care nationalization through reconciliation will SILENCE moderate Democrats and Republicans and produce the most aggressive, big-government health care plan possible. Any government plan to restructure one sixth of our economy deserves to be debated fully under the regular rules of the Senate.

Not trying to bore you... but a bit more on the National Service Act

From Michelle Malkin:

To GIVE and to SERVE: the $6 billion National Service boondoggle
My syndicated column today looks at the massive expansion of government-funded “national service.” Debate began yesterday in the Senate, where the $6 billion SERVE Act’s primary co-sponsors are Sens. Ted Kennedy and…Orrin Hatch. And there’s the rub. Since its inception, AmeriCorps has been a bipartisan-supported beast. The Evil Party and the Stupid Party strike again. If this does lead to the establishment of a civilian national security force, as Obama signaled during the campaign, Republicans who vote for this Trojan Horse will have no one to blame but themselves.

To GIVE and to SERVE: The $6 billion National Service boondoggle
by Michelle Malkin
Creators Syndicate; Copyright 2009
Maybe it’s just me, but I find federal legislation titled “The GIVE Act” and “The SERVE Act” downright creepy. Even more troubling: The $6 billion price tag on these bipartisan bills to expand government-funded national service efforts. Volunteerism is a wonderful thing, which is why millions of Americans do it every day without a cent of taxpayer money. But the volunteerism packages on the Hill are less about promoting effective charity than about creating make-work, permanent bureaucracies, and left-wing slush funds.
http://michellemalkin.com/2009/03/25/to-give-and-to-serve-the-6-billion-national-service-boondoggle/

And more thoughts from Barracuda Babes:

Mandatory government service for our kids?
There's been a LOT of discussion across the conservative Internet regarding HR 1388 ("Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education Act" (GIVE Act)), now S 3577 (National Service Reauthorization Act) in the Senate.
I've watched and been reading the email alerts and various blogs, but haven't really had time to fully delve into the details. I still haven't had time to read the entire bill itself, not that I'd grasp it fully if I did given the way they legaleeze the language! Plus, I note there have been a number of amendments.
It seems innocent enough.
After all, every President in recent years has had some sort of somewhat similar volunteer service group.
However....

The Intellectual Redneck blog joins the Read My Lipstick Network

First, before I tell you about our newest member, I want to give you an update on our blogroll.

We've been really, really, exceptionally patient with the blogrolling group. However, they're still down and not allowing us to update. SO, on Friday, if they're not back up, we're ditching them. We haven't been able to find an alternative blogroll host, software or code that allows us to do it ourselves so we'll be going to simply using the Read My Lipstick Network logo with a link to our main site.

If any of you would like to go ahead and make the switch, feel free to do so as I seriously doubt blogrolling will magically meet OUR deadline .

We've posted the logo here: http://rmlnblogroll.blogspot.com/ (two sizes are on the sidebar with the link). If you need help, let me know and I'll try to walk you through how to make the logo link to the website.

Now, for the really good news! We have a new member... and have two pending (waiting on them to add the logo link).

The Intellectual Redneck - http://bloggingredneck.blogspot.com/

I got a kick out of his profile: "You know that really weird guy that lives up the street? That's me."

Here's one of his posts, which I'll also be adding to my Barracuda Babes blog... and maybe a few others that I contribute to at times. We have two fights looming, the one the Intellectual Redneck writes about below and the Fairness Doctrine. I hope you'll read this and go ahead and start calling and writing to protest:

Fighting back against "Card Check" (EFCA)
The Save Our Secret Ballot organization is trying to amend state's Constitutions to force secret ballot votes for all public elections. Who would have ever thought it would have come to this in America. The secret ballot vote is as American as apple pie. Many people have given their life defending this country and our right to vote in secret as our conscience dictates. Now, unions and Democrats are trying to take that right away from workers during a unionization campaign. They are doing this with an ironically named bill titled "The Employee Free Choice Act".

Dems: Let them eat cake

While we're out here fighting to make ends meet in this economic downturn... while our elected representatives are supposed to be up there trying to figure out how to turn the economy around... while we're giving up golf, that nice meal at our favorite restaurant and more...

The Democrats are off on a lavish retreat at Kingsmill, eating well and "talking about the stimulus package." I wouldn't care that much except YOU and I are paying for it. They're funding a good chunk of it with OUR tax dollars.

Hey, remember how they skewered AIG and others who took TARP funds for their lavish retreats? Hypocrisy to the nth degree.

Just hearing about it on Fox News... go look it up and blog, blog, blog.

The Republicans went on a similar retreat earlier, but they paid for it out of their own pockets (and some campaign funds). No tax dollars.

#TCOT to Republican Senators: NO to Porkulus, NO to Compromise, No to Turncoats

Michael Patrick Leahy, co-founder of Top Conservatives on Twitter, the conservative grassroots organization that dominates the conversation on Twitter, today announced that the organization is focusing it's OPERATION MOVE OVER MoveON.org on all Republicans in the Senate.

"Led by #TCOT Project Servant-Leader Wendy Hermann, a work-at-home mom from Corpus Christi, Texas, #TCOT's MOVE OVER MoveOn.org project is focused on defeating the Porkulus" Bill in the Senate (S.1), in any form." Leahy said today.

"We intend to communicate that message to all 41 Republican Senators in the most direct way today and through the rest of the week. We know that Senate Majority Leader Democrat Harry Reid is trying to ram this bad bill through the Senate without a sufficient discussion of all the truly wasteful mini bail-outs to the Democrat Party's political allies it contains."

"Our message to every Republican Senator is clear and simple: Stand firm, and don't fall for false promises of 'bi-partisanship' that are being used to merely provide political cover to the Democrats. This is a clear example of the Democrats' wasteful economic policies, and we need to let the Democrats own their foolhardiness."

"The history of compromise in the US Congress is easy to understand. When Democrats coerce Republicans to abandon their principles, they call it 'bi-partisan' compromise. We conservatives call that fundamentally wrong."

"Anyone who wants to help us in this higher calling in the defense of American free markets can take an advantage of an innnovative interactive tool that allows the average person to view the most recent spending elements of the "Porkulus" Bill, and register your approval or disapproval of each item. We will be periodically be sending out press releases highlighting your opinion of the most wasteful and extravagant elements of the bill."

"This great tool has been developed by Aaron Day, of Daylight Networks. To use the tool right now, simply go to:

www.daylightnetwork.com/senate-stimulus

"Once there, you can register and vote on whether or not a specific line item included in the bill will help improve the economy or will hurt it.”

MoveOn.org, the liberal activist group funded by George Soros, is focusing an ad campaign to turn around 5 Republican Senators. They are using radio and television ads to encourage people to contact these Senators and tell them to vote for S.1. The targeted Senators are:

(1) Collins - Maine
(2) Snow - Maine
(3) Newmann (yesterday appointed to replace Judd Gregg) - NH *
(4) Murkowski - ALASKA
(5) Grassley - Iowa

Leahy continued by adding that now all Republican Senators will be contacted.

"We've seen reports that various Republican Senators are offering a few ideas to make the bill seem more palatable. This simply won't work. Adding a few elements to placate moderate Republicans while keeping 90% of the $825 billion of pork included in the House version of the bill does nothing to help the economy. If Republican legislators want a historical model to guide them, they need look back only a few months to the disastrous vote in the fall in which many of them supported the ill advised and ineffective $700 billion Wall Street Bailout."

Top Conservatives on Twitter was started on November 29, 2008. It consists of a list of over 2,400 conservatives who use Twitter. The list can be found at http://www.topconservativesontwitter.org. The list serves as a rallying point for conservatives on the internet, and has led to the formation of many action projects, of which Operation
MOVE OVER MoveOn.org is one.

The organization is referred to as #TCOT because those five characters are used so that anyone on Twitter can follow the “tweet stream” of conversation on Twitter that is aimed at the #TCOT community. To follow this “tweet stream”, go to http://search.twitter.com and enter #TCOT.

In January, www.hashtags.org data showed that #TCOT dominated the Twitter conversation. #TCOT was the number one most used hashtag, with over 18,000 tweets. The second most used hashtag had less than 6,000 tweets.

#TCOT dominated the conversation on Twitter so dramatically that it had more than three times the conversation tweets as the number two hashtag.

#TCOT has released the following details of their plan of attack:

1. Phones. As we did in Operation Melt the Phones in DC, we are going to keep up a steady stream of phone calls to these Senators offices and report back on the TCOT Action Project site what the senators are saying. This time, however, we want to also call their local state offices. Each Senator has several in their state and they should be pressured as well. The numbers are listed by state at the bottom of the page as well as a sample script. We recommend calling each of the Senators offices every day. We will be issuing daily talking points for you to question the senate aid about. Be polite, but assertive.

2. Faxes. This time we will add faxes to our blitz. Many out of state people wishing to send a letter to a senator were stymied by the Senate e-mail system not allowing them. We have posted fax numbers next to phone numbers for those wishing to use that method. A sample text is listed at the bottom of the page for use in drafting e-mails and faxes. Again, we would like each person to fax each office daily emphasizing that days talking points.

3. E-mail. If you live in the senators state, we encourage you to send daily e-mails to the senators giving them reasons to vote against this piece of legislation. Links to each Senator’s webpage are on the Phone/Fax list at the bottom of the page. Use the Fax/E-mail text suggestions to know what to say.

4. Blogging and local media. We do not have George Soros’ money. We will have to be more grassroots than that. We are wanting all conservative bloggers to post this Action Project on your blog and give your opinion or perspective on the talking point of the day.

5. We are also asking "TCOT members to call their local talk radio programs, send letters to the editor and notify local media of what you are doing. Our hope is that some will be picked up as human interest stories and we can rebroadcast them over the internet. We have made an outline/talking points list available to you for your reference. Please use that list as a starting point. We are working to build this media list, so please report back whomever you
talk to and how they reacted.

6. We are looking for people with video experience that will write and produce short videos that can be posted on youtube that counter the ads being run by MoveON.org. Please contact us if you are interested in this project.

7. We are looking to target moderate or blue dog Democrats in the Senate that could be swayed to our side. Please let us know if you find any Democrats on the fence about S. 1. Above all else, be polite. Passion is encouraged, foul language is not. Be aggressive, but not abusive.

STOP the "American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009"

This week, the Senate is scheduled to consider the economic stimulus bill. It passed the House last week as H.R. 1, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 with NO support from Republicans. Its cost per family is about $4,300.

BAD IDEAS - "THE DEVIL IN DISGUISE"

The hidden liberal policy agenda inside the 'stimulus bill':

Over $142 Billion in Federal education funds: Nearly double the total outlays for the Department of Education in 2007 - making good on Reid-Pelosi-Obama education promises to the NEA.

$87 Billion Medicaid bailout: If we keep bailing states out without any accountability, they will have every incentive to continue irresponsible spending. It forces fiscally responsible taxpayers in states, like Indiana, to pay for the fiscally irresponsible decisions, by bureaucrats, in states like Illinois.

Expanded Medicaid coverage and SCHIP: Congress is using the stimulus to push forward their liberal health care agenda. This incremental strategy will ultimately move the country closer to the tipping point where government will control more health care spending than the private sector - leaving individuals and families with less control over their personal health care decisions.

Green Jobs?: The myth of 'green jobs' merely means replacing one job lost, with a new job that fits the left's agenda. It is a zero sum game. More than doubling spending, the stimulus also has over $35 billion for the Dept. of Energy. DOE's current budget is $23.8 billion.

Redistribution: Refundable "Make Work Pay" Tax Credits for people who don't pay taxes.

Pork Spending: TV Coupons ($650 M), Nat'l Endowment for the Arts ($50 M), Hollywood ($246 M.)

Stop this spending bill! Call your Senators (Republican and Democrat) and tell them to vote "NO" on this bill. Please send this to everyone you know!

I just got off a tele-conference sponsored by Americans for Prosperity regarding the Obama administration's "stimulus package". I was concerned about it prior to the call, now I am fired up. We need to do everything in our power to stop this from happening. We may not be successful, but let's at least go down fighting.

I sent the following email to almost everyone in my email address book. I would like to ask you to doctor it up any way you'd like, but please get some version of this to everyone you know. There's another great letter in the works by another group. I'll share that one with you later. If I get twenty letters from twenty different groups I'm going to pass them along!

---

I don't normally send out group emails, but this one is SO critical. Let's make this viral! We only have TWO days left to stop the stimulus. Visit www.readthestimulus.org for details on the bill then be sure to go to www.nostimulus.com and sign the petition. Don't stop there, call Congress, write letters, post blogs, send emails, send faxes! If enough people call and voice their opinion we CAN stop the stimulus.

Join me in taking a stand in the first major policy battle of President Obama's Administration.
You've seen the coverage of the approximately $1 trillion debt scheme pushed by Speaker Pelosi and President Obama that's being called the "Stimulus Package."

Sadly, many politicians in Washington, DC really believe that driving our nation even deeper into debt and using our money for wasteful government spending boondoggles is the way to get us out of the current recession.

These political leaders don't realize that massive deficits, higher taxes, wasteful spending and heavy-handed regulation are primary reasons for the current recession.

You can fight back today by visiting www.NoStimulus.com and joining the growing army of taxpayers saying NO by signing Americans for Prosperity’s petition to stop this disastrous trillion-dollar debt scheme, known as the “Stimulus Package.”

It is critical that we send a loud and clear message to DC politicians that ordinary citizens simply cannot afford the crushing burden and devastating consequences of this initiative.

Please act now to make your voice heard -- and encourage your friends and family to do the same -- by signing AFP’s petition at www.NoStimulus.com.

Palin Alert --- Tacky Media Alert

Tacky to say the least. "The Week" (never heard of it before) has a contest where they ask readers to "supply an imaginative twist" to news stories. This week they're asking readers to supply stories as if they were writing a romance novel. Wait until you read the example they give! Tacky.

I left a one-word comment. You'll never guess which word ...

I almost hate to write about this one simply because it brings attention to what they're doing and it'll give them free publicity, albeit negative. With the negative will come the libs / left / progressives / dems. (In case you're wondering why I keep using so many labels, it's cause if I use dems, they write and say they're libs; if I use libs, they write and say they're progressives. I figure I'll make sure I capture all the labels that are being used just so I don't miss anyone ;-)

They know that any time they use Sarah Palin's name, even if it's in a tacky, despicable way, they attract attention. The caricature they use of Sarah is hideous. If the tacky contest didn't show their true leanings, the caricature would clinch it.

Anywaze, here be the link to the tacky contest: http://www.theweek.com/article/comment/92113, and here be part of the tacky contest info:

“What Next?” Contest: Sarah Palin
Every week, we’re asking readers to supply an imaginative twist to one of the recent news stories featured in The Week. Submissions should be emailed to whatnext@theweek.com. Please include your name, address, and daytime telephone number for verification, and please type “Sarah Palin’’ in the subject line. Entries are due by 6 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday, Jan. 12. The winner will appear on the Puzzle Page of the magazine next week, as well as here, at TheWeek.com/WhatNext Friday, January 16th.

Prize: One year’s subscription to The Week

This week’s question: Sarah Palin is now fielding more than a dozen offers to write a book and 800 requests for interviews. But if a publisher commissioned a romance novel about her instead, how would that novel begin? (No more than five sentences, please.)

Example:

Sarah Palin sat down at the boardroom table and crossed her legs angrily as the political operative launched into his PowerPoint. “You need foreign-policy credentials, so we’re sending you abroad,” the dashing operative said. Frowning, Sarah shook her head so hard that soft brown tendrils tumbled from her bun, framing her face like a heart. “What I want to know,” she said, “is why I am being sent to that country with the kangaroos.” With a sigh, the operative replied, “You mean the country with The Sound of Music.”

Al Franken Storms to Within 5 Votes of Coleman

More than six weeks after the Nov. 4 election, Democratic challenger Al Franken threatened to take his first lead Thursday over incumbent GOP Sen. Norm Coleman in the recount of votes in the hotly contested Minnesota Senate race.

The State Canvassing Board ended its day Thursday with Franken having moved within just five votes of Coleman.

Stop the Abortion Bailout

A message to all members of Team Sarah
December 19, 2008

Dear Team Sarah,
Tired of bailouts? Well they aren't going away anytime soon. Now the abortion industry wants one!

We all knew that Planned Parenthood (the number one abortion provider in the country) was going to have a special seat at the table in the Obama administration. Well it hasn't taken them long at all to roll out their extreme agenda.

Tell your Senator today that Planned Parenthood should not get a bailout. Go to www.stoptheabortionbailout.com.

Abortion groups have submitted their 50 page proposal to the Obama-Biden transition team. At the top of the list? More taxpayer dollars for abortion organizations like Planned Parenthood. How much more? Over 1.5 billion dollars more!

The Abortion Bailout Package:

**$1 BILLION dollars in taxpayer funding for International Abortion Groups like UNFPA, an international aid organization connected to coercive abortion as part of China's coercive one-child policy

**$700 million in taxpayer funding for "Title X" Health Clinics (aka your local Planned Parenthood affiliate)

**Repeal the Hyde Amendment -- Vastly expanding federal taxpayer funding for abortions

**Include Abortion coverage in any taxpayer-subsidized national health care program

**Expand taxpayer-funded abortions through the Peace Corps program

It is an outrage for Planned Parenthood to expect you to give your hard earned dollars to fund the destruction of innocent life.

Join citizens across our great country in telling their Senators to keep your tax dollars out of the abortion providers.

Tell them to Stop the Abortion Bailout! Sign the Petition today!

David Horowitz, Barack Obama, Hank Rand, Birth Certificate

Rec'd the following from "The Intellectual Redneck" as a comment on a previous blog. We can't publish things on here in their entirety from other blogs or publications, can only publish links and a few lines (professional courtesy, and it's illegal, too ;-). Thus, I'm including a link to The Intellectual Redneck (cause it's a good blog even though they're not a member of our Network) here: http://bloggingredneck.blogspot.com/, and then I'm liking to the comment and the original story.

The following, which is excellent as The Intellectual Redneck pointed out, is posted on the History News Network as a comment on "David Horowitz: Obama Derangement Syndrome ... Conservatives Need to Shut Up About the Birth Certificate".

Really?
(#129849)by Hank Rand on December 6, 2008 at 9:44 PM
"What difference does it make to the future of this country whether Obama was born on US soil? Advocates of this destructive campaign will argue that the Constitutional principle regarding the qualifications for President trumps all others. But how viable will our Constitution be if 5 Supreme Court justices should decide to void 64 million ballots?"A proponent of the reality that there is an outstanding question that exists relating to Barack Obama's natural born citizenship (not that I have an answer, but rather simply that no answer has been given), my personal opinion is that this has less to do with the merit of this particular Constitutional law...and more to do with the character and integrity of a man who may have gone to such great lengths to, knowingly, break it. And in that course of action, our entire country (not just those who didn't vote for him) and our most coveted process of Democracy (our vote), were defrauded.

David Horowitz: Obama Derangement Syndrome ... Conservatives Need to Shut Up About the Birth Certificate
Source: Special to HNN (12-6-08)
The continuing efforts of a fringe group of conservatives to deny Obama his victory and to lay the basis for the claim that he is not a legitimate president is embarrassing and destructive. The fact that these efforts are being led by Alan Keyes, an unhinged demagogue on the political fringe who lost a senate election to the then unknown Obama by 42 points should be a warning in itself.

Louisiana Gives One, Keeps One

Yesterday's election in Louisiana brought the GOP one seat, long held by a Democrat, and kept one... barely. Last I read Flemming won over Carmouche (D) by a few hundred votes. Flemming had declared victory (and it was given by AP, etc.), but Carmouche was not conceding. I'll have to check to see if the narrow margin will result in an automatic recount, or whether Carmouche will pick up the tab to have one.

For a Party that the media portrays as rich and white, we sure do have a diverse group of elected and appointed officials... We now have the FIRST Vietnamese-American Congressman! I write this as I listen in the background to Condeleza Rice on the talks. She is first-class and brilliant.

On a side note, which should be a blog of its own, today is the day we remember Pearl Harbor. I hope all will take at least a moment to remember those who lost their lives that day and all the ensued from that day forward.

Here's the results on local New Orleans station:

Jefferson loses to a Republican
Associated Press - December 7, 2008 7:03 AM ET
NEW ORLEANS (AP) - An indicted Democratic congressman has lost his seat in 1 of Louisiana's two elections delayed by Hurricane Gustav. Congressman William Jefferson, who was trying for an 11th term, was beaten yesterday by Republican Anh "Joseph" Cao, who will become the first Vietnamese-American in Congress. Jefferson blames his loss on low voter turnout.

More on the L.A. Times Video, Obama, Ayers and Khalidi

Posted on one of the Read My Lipstick Network blogs (Go Sarah Palin, http://gosarahpalin.blogspot.com):

GET US THE TAPE THE L.A. TIMES REFUSES TO RELEASE, AND WE'LL GIVE YOU CASH! By Binyamin L. Jolkovsky JewishWorldReview.com For the last week, this site has been receiving mail -- lots of mail -- asking that we somehow shame the Los Angeles Times into releasing a videotape they admit to having that shows then Illinois state Sen. Barak Obama praising Rashid Khalidi, the one-time PLO spokesman/adviser during a 2003 farewell party in Chicago. Shortly thereafter, he became the head of the Middle East Studies Department at Columbia University.
